Well fellas, it has been over a week now since we all joined Jack in putting down the cancer sticks and I for one, am feeling like a new person. My energy level is way up, I am breathing much better, food is tasting great and I am not throwing my money away on something that is going to kill me. Kind of make me wonder why I waited so ong to do this . . . . .

For those of you that have slipped and had a smoke, I (we) want to encourage you to get back on the program and beat this filthy addiction.

This support group has helped me a lot by being able to check on everyone's experiences each day and I want to thank Jack for getting the ball rolling.

Thanks Jack, I may very well owe you my life.

Admittedly, I fell off the wagon this weekend.... Memphis lost to UCLA and I lost to a bottle of Vodka.... Got wasted and ended up smoking.... BUT I got up the next day and got right back on the Non-Smoking Train.... While I don't have 8 days cigg free, I can say that I am still committed to quitting.... It was a small set-back, but i won't use it as an excuse to start smoking again....

...when you fall down, you simply get up and dust yourself off and try again. :)

Warning.........
To those who have slipped.... fwiw...It's important to get at it again with double the resolve........ FAST .....I'll tell ya why..(At least with me) In past efforts....once I slipped up..it kinda sanctioned slipping as part of the process....then the rationalization that "ok, so I slipped...tomorrow right back at it and tomorrow never really came (I was a frequent slipper:shrug:)...CAREFUL if ya wanna do this!! You are fighting a POWERFUL DRUG and a carefully selected collection of chemicals.
Glad to see Jack and Taoist back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now...TJB.......Way to go!!!You are the official poster boy for quitting....SMART...no booze, diet, exercise....You are one unreal model for some of the elder statesmen in here. (not that you are)
Further...We have Va Nurse, Ryson, Spang, Judge, Chuckdeman, Watrdogg, who have been checking in with perfect progress......kudos, props and SINCERE CONGRATS! You are all going to make it!!!!!!!! BE STRONG ! It's NOT over!

After a great weekend, I am in the worst mood i've been in over 2 months. I think I hate everyone today :scared but..

I WILL NOT SMOKE CAUSE I LOVE MYSELF :SIB

Be strong boys and girls! A cigareete is only 2-3 inches long and doesn't have a brain like we humans do. Don't let anything get in your way to a better lifestyle and better life for you and everyone around you. Falling off the wagon is ok if you pick yourself!

I still hate everyone today but.. I always feel better after I post in the NON-SMOKING THREAD!! :142smilie

Almost 47 years old Bear and I would like to be around another 20+ :D Thanks Bro!

Day #8 for me. Feel great. Also Day #2 of no solid food. (Really am starving though! ) but I have depleted about 1/5 of the massive amounts of fruit I bought. Started off the morning with a cup of weaker than normal coffee and 1 huge blender size fruit drink. Made 1 more when I got in and will have 1 more tonight. Tomorrow I will buy the cabbage, lettuce, celery, beets, peppers, etc for the nightly "V-8's"

Day #8 of no booze as well. That for me is an accomplishment in itself!! :com:

Most likely saved around $45 in smokes and maybe 1/2 that in liquor. I will not smoke today.

Donna has thrown in the towel. She doesn't smoke at home but she reeks of it when I get in. Will not let that make me smoke. If anything, that is a major deterent!!!!!! Really have had no cravings!

Never thought I would be craving boneless/skinless chicken with Garlic but I am badly!!! :D

Lost 8 pounds so far. No walk today. Until tomorrows thread!

:nono: SMOKING!!!!
I AM A NON SMOKER!!!!!!!!

Kudos to you all. Keep it up, you can do it!!! I quit 29 years ago and I'll be 60 this year. I do like my beer though and can't give up all my vices. If I knew I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself. Good Luck and keep it going. Chitch

That was the key for me a few years ago. The smell of cigarettes on clothes, hair, etc...I smelled that once I quit and it made all the difference for me...it is extremely disgusting but unless you are a NON-SMOKER, you don't smell it.

gl to all,
M

Thats what Ive been saying.....I'll quit when I'm ready, I just dont want too yet......that time will never come, cuz I'll always want one....you know the long car rides, movie, watching sports, after a meal, paperwork, boredom.........Ive even chewed getting a BJ while watching a game.....so theres hardly a time I won't have one besides sleeping and eating..........I thought it'd make me happy to try and kick this thing, but me and the chew bonded, no doubt I'm gonna miss it, but I know it does nothing good for me and its time to let it go..........should add, my last pinch is going in, in about 20 seconds........then its off to miserable city for a few days

Hey Jack.......
Seriously............I know you wanna be done with this crap!!!
We,ve been here before...and I know that you have a big habit (more than 1 pack per day) THIS IS NOT EASY!.....but if you can get 5 days done you can be done with this stuff in 2 or 3 weeks..
I promise you that!!!!! NObody here is out of the woods yet..and I think all are still fighting the fight..........Now, c'mon man..Do what you set out to do!!! We're all with you and will help.
I knew right away that you and Taoist were going to really be tested which is why I posted about my being a "frequent slipper" and tomorrow never seems to come. I got lucky right here and so can you!!!! Lets get this done NOW..It is not any different than March 20 and you have a five day practice run under your belt!! BE STRONG and GL....What do you say????
