Ventillation has gotten better over the years, for sure. It's still pretty f*cking smokey. Go out there sometime and let me know what you think.

No, nobody is 'standing next to me talking to me' being offended by my 'breath' and the cup is out of sight of patrons and employees. Under the rail on the ledge playing craps and in my lap playing blackjack. It's not on the table.

They have a Food and Beverage union in Vegas that is very strong. Apparently they have determined that the bottle is 'toxic.'
My buddy dips and was at a poker table and as he was setting down his dip cup that was half full he knocked it over and got all over the side table and the carpet and it made everyone at the table disgusted, and i thought i hadnt seen a funnier thing. The dealer was pissed and the waitress that came over to clean it up was furious.

If I'm a non smoker standing next to you what harm do I bring vs. you smoking next to me? Don't be an idiot and try to defend this issue.

First off,

I have never smoked in my life, i can not stand it, the second hand smoke almost makes me sick, in fact it does make me sick.

But i feel that in the state of CA, They got it right a few years ago, no smoking allowed where FOOD was present.

But then it was taken too far,IMO, no smoking in all public places including bars.

I personally think that the rights were taken from the smoker. The government should be in place to inform us of the danger not protect us from it.

What i mean is "as a non smoker" is if i do not like it then i should not enter. period.

If i know that a bar is a heavy smoking bar , well then i might as well just head on over to another bar that "might" enforce their own policy of no smoking and i might does enter that bar.

I feel for u smokers, as much as i wish there were no smoking ever allowed, i think that you have been robbed of your libertys.

I guess this also goes with my thoughts that the government should only inform , not protect. "regardless of the stupity factor".

Seat belt law, tell me of the hazards , let me decide if i want to wear it.

Helmets for motorcycles, again inform me of the danger, let me determine if i want to ride without.(with medical coverage so that im not a burden to soctiey)

My favorite dispute when i get pulled over for no seatbelt.

I ask the officer, is it required that u wear a bullet-proof vest when u work. most reply no its optional.

Is it not true that u would increase ur chances of survival in a gun fight , when u wear it.

Most reply, sure of course.

Then why not wear one everyday,

Because its uncomfortable.

That is the exact reason i do not want to wear my safteybelt.

Trust me im aware of the dangers. im a big boy , let me decide for myself.

I doubt smoking will ever be banned here in Kentucky or Tennessee restaraunts. I don't think it should be either, and I've never smoked in my life. I sure as heck don't want to eat around smoke. If I go to a restaraunt, and the smoking section is too close, I don't go back, or I politely ask for a different table. If the meal isn't enjoyable secondary to the smoke, I'll just not go back. Easy enough. Let the proprieters of the restaraunt decide what their customers want.

I think DTB has a great point. I see a heck of a lot more health related problems related to obesity than I do smoking. Obesity around here is getting ridiculous. All these people getting disability because they are fat. BS! At least the smokers are working, lol. The construction crew might all have a butt in their mouth, but, at least they're out working instead of getting on the dole because they're too fawking fat to walk.

Lastly, I'm getting a little off topic, but the saddest thing I see in my job is this. I'll have a patient that's elderly; over 70, and I remember one guy who was 94. They all started smoking when they were in their teens. They get in the hospital for something totally non-related like a broken hip. They still want to smoke. I think they should be allowed to, heck, what's it going to hurt??? Not letting them smoke and depressing them, causing them anxiety is going to kill them a lot faster now especially when some of them have over 100 "pack years". Sad deal. Not fair, and I don't like it.

You think they should be able to smoke inside the hospital, or am I misreading?

good points.......yeah I'm sure at a blackjack table with a chain smoker next to you, the ventilation wont really help, but I guess you can't tell them to stop since they're allowed to, the only thing people overlook health-related things for is money, plain and simple........well if you're cup is on the floor I cant see how thats a problem, I guess it's the bitchy, whiney union who thinks its toxic, either that or they all decided theyd rather not have to clean up someones spit cup so they made up an excuse that it's toxic, probably the latter

most hospitals are "non smoking campuses", which of course means you can't smoke on the whole property. I think they should be allowed to go outside and smoke. When I was first a nurse, patients could smoke in their rooms, lol. Also, the nurses' report room would be a cloud of smoke.
