Just write www.sports.yahoo.com then double click on NFL, then double click on the game play time, and at the right corner of your screen you will see "??% of Pro Pick'em users predict ??will win the game. If the pointspread its low that 4 points bet againts the 70% , if the people choose an underdog of less than 4 points bet the favorite and you will win.

Maybe I should have worded my post differently. I you think something is going to happen in the NFL. Chances it's not!!!

Lots of good input.....but I'm guessing the original poster is about here.....:sadwave: Say what?

There is no "one method." Reading books by experts is excellent. I'd also recommend reading posts by guys that are consistently on point.

Go through the games and pick the ones that you think offer an opportunity to make some money, then take a look at what others are thinking about those games. If someone really loves a side or total, try to figure out why. Try to see the logic in what hes saying. The better the guys record, the more important it is to understand what hes saying. Agree or disagree, but try to get the logic of his argument. Thanks to the internet there are literally hundreds of sites that offer help and/or information.

Remember the lines offered by vegas have less to do with talent than with the public's love/hate of the teams involved. The lines are designed to spread out the betting, and prevent a bloodbath.

This is not a get rich quick scheme. It can be a get poor quick vehicle. Bet small at first until you get your feet under you. I'd suggest you never gamble with any money you can't comfortably afford to lose. Desperation leads us in the wrong direction. Money management is vital.

I've enjoyed playing and watching football all my life, and a few years back I was pretty much where you sound like you are. On the edge of trying to learn how to get better at capping.

I love this site and use it almost daily, (this one or its kin in nba, nhl, col hoops etc) http://legend.jimfeist.com/nflstats/fastfacts.aspx expanded analysis......

GL.....hope this helps

Well, here comes my .02.

There are three basic handicapping methods:

1/ Fundamental
2/ Technical
3/ Situational

Do your homework and find out what each one means.

Lastly, NO ONE who has made a major breakthrough using any of those three handicapping methods is going to reveal in a public forum what they discovered.

I refuse to believe anyone would be that stupid.

You will see member plays and you might get a generic analysis at how they arrived at their decision, but no one in their right mind is going to reveal top secret handicapping information in a public forum.

If you want the top secret information bad enough, you'll find it.

It all depends how bad you want it.

It may take forever, but it's there.

If you're lucky enough to stumble upon it, you won't be able to sleep.

You'll feel like Einstein the moment he discovered e=mc squared.

But you won't be real anxious to share your discovery with anyone else.

Especially in a public forum.

This is what I love about this site, some really great info and tips.

My opinion is to try and project a line for the games before the lines actually come out. Then compare your lines to Vegas and try to understand why Vegas came up with that line. You MUST stay unbiased however. don't be swayed by ESPN or national medias like that because Vegas sees and uses that as well. Also understand that as impressive as a team looks or doesn't look on Sunday and Monday nights, Vegas is banking on that over reaction to inflate a line and keep the public on one side.

Good Luck and constantly refer back to this post to keep you sharp and keep you from making some stupid mistakes.
