Who has the inside track?

Harbaugh not interested. Lots of good coaches signed long term extensions. Who do they buy out? I just hope they don't go to an old NFL retread like they did with Mackovic. Shannahan would be a disaster. Thoughts?

None of the serious candidates will be from the NFL, Patterson has permission to talk to Graham at Arizona State is what I heard on the sirius radio, they would like to have a Texas connection if at all possible and someone who's known as a solid recruiter.

You can rule out Schiano from Tampa, Gruden (ESPN), Jay Gruden as well, and Jim Grobe from Wake Forest who resigned and said he wants to continue to coach, LOL!!

With the money the Longhorn network has, could they get an instate guy in Briles from Baylor? I doubt Baylor has the funds to pay Briles what Texas could.

I do hope they get someone with some charisma and who can actually coach. Brown did great early at UT then lost several key coordinators/recruiters and down went their record plus kids in Texas went elsewhere and away from UT campus.

Also heard a Tuberville rumor on Cincy radio this afternoon.

Tuberville would be a lateral move AT BEST. I really think Franklin at Vandy would be a great hire. If he can win at Vandy, think what he could do at Texas.

Excellent call, Corley!! Frank is one of the best of the newest group of coaches that landed their first D1 HC Gig in the last 4 years for sure. Rice HC is getting talked to as well!! Ole Miss head skipper may be another choice to check out!!

I grew up watching Texas football, my parents went to school there, my sister went there, I partied and gambled too much to have the grades to go there, so I have an emotional tie to the school. I want Gus Mahlzahn, Todd Graham was a Texas high school coach before leaving to go to college, or James Franklin those guys would be at the top of my list.

Gruden? Nah!!

Lovie made money this year and has one more year I believe on his contract from da Bears!!

He's rumored to go to the Cowboys next year after Jer's house cleaning!!

It appears Lovie interviewed with the Houston Texans and reportedly is interested in becoming HC at Tulsa should that job open, since he's an alum. But who knows.

Now hearing on the groove tube, Brian Kelly interested in Texas, along with Todd Graham (Connection to Patterson, AD at UT, formerly at ASU) and Les Miles? Say that ain't so Les!!

Could be an interesting Holiday season once these bowl games are finished.

It can't be Graham. ASU made sure the AD that left for UT couldn't take anything from the cookie jar.

Can't stand Todd Graham. I wouldn't want him if he was available. A name that no one is really talking about is Brian Kelly. I think Texas should make a call to him to guage his interest and at least try to interview him. Others guys I like are Bill O'Brien, David Shaw, James Franklin, Mark Dantonio, Urban Meyer and Jimbo Fisher.
