Long time, no write huh....
Thought I better let all my friends at Jacks' house know what's been happening Down Under since I was last here...
Main news is Anders has a new job....and a pretty damn cool one at that!
As from June 23, I will be gainfully employed as the Media and Communications Manager of the New Zealand Breakers basketball franchise.
The franchise is a new one, just set up earlier this year, and we will be making our debut in the Australian National Basketball League (ANBL) for the 2003/2004 season which tips off on October 1.
We're really excited about the impact we could make on Kiwi hoops fans and the league. We have signed five players to date, with another two coming aboard this week and the rest of the roster spots to be filled following more trials this month.
For those hoopsters who watched NZ at the World Champs in Indianapolis last year, u may remember Pero Cameron, who made the All-Star five along with Yao Ming, Nowitzski, Ginobili and Stojakovic.
Pero is our captain and is joined by three other members of that national side that stunned the basketbal world by finishing fourth - shooting guard Phill Jones, small forward Dillon Boucher and point guard Paul Henare. We've also signed a big Aussie forward in Ben Melmeth and have two more Aussies just putting their John Hancocks on contracts as I write...
The team will be based on the North Shore in Auckland but I will stay at the Anders' mansion in Hamilton and commute when media commitments require and gamedays of course...
Most importantly, not sure yet how I'll be placed to become a regular contributor at Madjacks again, but hoping I may have a little more freedom, sure have missed this place....
Hope all my old mates have been having a great time and look forward to hearing from ya - hell, might even venture in to the NBA forum for some Finals plays...
