If I die, I understand my family will be eligible for benefits up to a max of $XX a year. My question is this. Since I am the one who carries the health insurance, how does my family stay insured? With the SS and life insurance that I have, they would have plenty to live on and my wife wouldn't have to work, but I don't know where the health insurance would come from. Would my wife just have to get a market policy? Can she still get it from my employer even though I would be dead? Just doing a little family planning stuff, and this question came up, and I don't know the answer. Thanks for any helpful replies.

From my understading when I talked to my insurance agent, I needed to sign up for enough Life insurance to cover my wife and family until they could get back on their feet. This is due to my wife quitting her job when the baby gets here. So I am pretty sure that they would only be covered for a short time on my current health insurance.

Make sure you understand what your wife and family get from SS. If she is under age 60 she gets nothing. At 60 she can draw early SS. Your kids all of them under age 18 will receive certin amount.
Cobra 36 months on the health side. Then she goes to open market and gets shock of her live.
