San Diego Chargers - QB Rotation: Drew Brees (1st Q), Philip Rivers (2-3 Qs), Cleo Lemon, Craig Ochs (mop up).
Marty Schottenheimer said Drew Brees probably will play the first quarter of Thursday's game, with Philip Rivers getting the next two. Cleo Lemon and possibly Craig Ochs will play the fourth quarter.
It's "not likely" RB Ladainian Tomlinson will play, Schottenheimer said. No surprise there ? the All-Pro running back has only 13 carries in exhibition games during his four-year NFL career.
Green Bay Packers - QB Rotation: Brett Favre, Craig Nall, J.T. O'Sullivan, rookie Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers have been giving rookie QB Aaron Rodgers a lot of snaps in practice. They have him second behind Favre when it comes to receiving practice snaps. Favre practices once a day and receives 50% of the snaps, with Rodgers receiving 25%. In the afternoon session, Rodgers, Nall and O'Sullivan split the snaps evenly.
Nose tackle Grady Jackson remains on the physically unable to perform list.
Secondary thin. The Packers are down to five healthy cornerbacks, and unless they get projected starters Al Harris (thigh) and Joey Thomas (calf) back soon, they're going to be perilously thin at the position.
Jim Bates is the Packers new Defensive Coordinator, their third new one in three years. The defense is running more coverages than the basic two-deep scheme of a year ago.
