Class. Now there's a word that would be foreign to Mr. Stiff Jsmooth. What was that that you said in an email to me? Oh yeah, and I quote, 'I always pay my debts, you have no right to question me you f*ckin idiot'. Of course, that was before you lost, since as we all know, you blocked me after game the was over and you haven't been heard from since. White trash at it's finest.

As Ctown might say, that would be Tressel-2, Michigan-0.

Hey PenguinFan and/or Buddy, if you guys are talking to your icon, ask him to contact me. Thanks!

Bucks saw the writing on the wall - and won them all

Columbus- The Ohio State Buckeyes stress class now. They used to cut it.

"We are going to be as good a football team as the CLASS of people we are," reads a Paul Brown quote hanging in the meeting room of the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

It's a little too much to expect a big-time college football program to be composed entirely of guys who help little old ladies across busy streets. There have been six run-ins between football players and the law since Jim Tressel stepped out of the 1950s and led the program back to glory. People here seem willing to accept that, since things used to be so much worse.

The last year of Tressel's predecessor, John Cooper, was characterized by kind of a mass conniption at the Outback Bowl two years ago, low-lighted by a lawsuit filed against LeCharles Bentley by Tyson Walter, a result of their fight during off-season conditioning. Linebacker Matt Wilhelm also ripped captain Ken-Yon Rambo for lack of leadership. And there was the revelation that much of the team had blown off classes most of the semester. "I'm going to have to find out about these so-called problems," yelped a beleaguered Cooper.

From the remnants of this warring collection of misfits and underachievers, Tressel has forged a band of brothers that is one big upset in the Fiesta Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes from a national championship. It seems incredibly retro to catalogue the long march of 15 abstract virtues Tressel has posted on the wall. They run from "attitude" to "work," with stops at "gratitude," "humility," "love," and (two words, this shouldn't count) "handling adversity" in-between. It would be corny, except this is what all football coaches believe, but few more sincerely than Tressel.

In a world in which posturing NFL players like Terrell Owens literally shake pompoms and lead their own cheers, the OSU players bought into it.

"We have developed the ability as a team to come together at the end of games," said Ohio State quarterback Craig Krenzel. "We have great team chemistry this year. That wasn't always the case. You see that by the way we hang out with different guys now."

Krenzel was the roommate of star-crossed former quarterback Steve Bellisari. This year, he rooms with center Alex Stepanovich. But when wide receiver Chris Vance's brother died in a bloody shootout Nov. 2 in Fort Myers, Fla., it was Krenzel who first comforted him - and later threw him a touchdown pass in a rout of Minnesota.

It's not a chicken-or-egg question, Krenzel said. The chemistry comes before the big plays. Belief isn't fostered by success. It's the other way around. "Attitude has to change first," Krenzel said.

No wonder "attitude" was first on Tressel's list.

The biggest-sized print on any sign in the meeting room reads, "Macte Virtute." Translated from the Latin, it means "strive manfully." It sounds like something Teddy Roosevelt might say, when he wasn't carrying on about a "bully pulpit." The stilted phrase describes the Buckeyes well.

The signature play of their season, one of the five nominated as the "Play of the Year" by ESPN, was Krenzel's 37-yard touchdown pass into the wind on fourth-and-1 in the last 1? minutes to beat Purdue, 10-6. It is the play that put the Buckeyes in the national championship game.

"Even if it doesn't win the award, I hope it's how little kids around Ohio will want to play," Krenzel said. "It was a play that showed we're no different from the people in Ohio, that we win with class, respect our opponents, celebrate properly, and try to face pressure with courage."

Manful striving beats men in strife. Beating the Hurricanes will be harder, though.

Easy Brother

Easy Brother

I will admit that I did not like some of the pot shots aimed at Jsmooth, who I know from another board as a solid capper, HOWEVER I may have spoke out of turn if indeed he stiffed you on the bet, and I have no reason to think you are not being honest there. I have never spoke personaly or even via e-mail with him. I did/would welcome his handicapping skills anywhere, and being a Buckeye hater (sorry , I'm a Penn Stater) again I may have spoke out of turn. Sorry. I always respect a good handicapper, but never a dead beat bettor, I know he is the first of those, and I sure hope not the second. Other than that, good luck against Miami, you gonna need it. ;)

Penguin,

I'm aware of the 'other board' where you were fellating Jsmooth. Your post below doesn't sound like someone who is too concerned about somebody being a deadbeat stiff.

The bet and terms were established by him. He disappeared. Not really surprising, but still instructive.

I don't care that you are a Buckeye hater, or anything else. Everybody has their favorite team. However, this guy took fanatisism to a new level. And in the end, he turned out to be a punk that couldn't come up with a lousy nickel. Doesn't sound like someone who is exactly tearing up the books, now does it?

Did you actually say 'more man in your little toenail'? LMFAO

Here's a tip for ya Penguin, 'real men' pay their debts.

Kosar, your need to let go. This public aim at him will not get your money, and possible can only make you more upset.
I would act like it didn't happen and move on.
He's the one that must have some problem, don't let that transfer to you.
Forget it. Be happy!:)

OK Kosar, let's straighten this thing out now, I posted that before I was ever aware that he would not pay you, after all his posts pointing out the details I assumed he would make good, apparently I was wrong and I said I spoke out of turn, which is my way of saying I was wrong, plain and simple. I see no need to turn this into something between me and you, I said I was wrong and apolagize. As far as saying real men pay their debts, well I could not agree more and I certainlly hope he does.
If you want to take it out on me, then so be it, but either way have a nice holiday and I hope you get/make up that cash.

kosar - sorry to see that this bet has not been paid to you. It just goes to show what kind of guy we were dealing with and it's something to remember if another loud-mouthed Michigan fan pops up next year. It could be that he is in a deep depression and my guess would be you are not the only person he owes money to after the game. One of the biggest things he bitched about was, as you mentioned, the CLASS of Buckeye fans in his opinion. This lack of HONOR and RESPECT on his part proves that the maize and blue fan signifies chicken yellow and beat-up blue...

HAPPY HOLIDAY AND GO BUCKS!!!

go blue

go blue

Let's not let one idiot fan of michigan ruin the pride that goes along with one of the greatest teams in NCAA history. Your comment about michigan beatup blue and chicken yellow is as disgraceful as you can be. Being a michigan fan, I can not let you sit back and make a mockery of my beloved team. I have attended the last 3 games, with 2 michigan loses and 1 michigan win. Being 20 years of age, I only was able to start doing this. Michigan fans have tormented ohiostate fans at home and I have received much hostility when I attend OSU games in Columbus. As I commented to a OSU fan, "You make fun of me now, but I'll never see you next year when I'm in Ann Arbor" That's exactly the mentality of a lot of fans. With all my friends around, I'll act like an A$$ now, but I'll never have the guts to go to the visitor's stadium and act the same way. Please, fans are fans. It's not the team that represents the fan, It's the fan that represents the team. If that fan makes an ass of himself, dont judge the legacy of the team. Judge the person themselves.

I can only sympathize with you kosar. Sounds like you got the big shaft from that Jsmooth character. Which, by the way, can be best described by the single word "turd"

Did you try creating a new email account and emailing him? That way, he cant block it initially and would more than likely open it up at least. Maybe he hasnt sunk as low as we thought and would at least contact you to say yes or no he will pay.

Big Joe,

I'm aight man, but I appreciate the post.

Penguin Fan,

Fine, i'll take you at your word, but it's hard to figure what you meant by ' I know why everyone is looking for you'.

Bigdad and Wox,

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Not only an obnoxious Michigan fan, but a deadbeat stiff to boot! Bad combo.

Marine,

Thanks bud. Yeah, I thought about doing that, but to what end? Ya know? He would open it, delete it, and that would be it. I know i'll never get the money, so there is more utility in showing all of his adoring fans what a con-artist he is and how anybody and everybody should steer clear of any sort of dealings with this thief. As I said in my initial post about this last month, i'm not mad about it. I should , and to some extent did expect it. And frankly, if I feel like it somewhere down the road, I'll give him a call. I have his full name(thanks XXXXX) and his town.

But until then, Let's go Bucks!

Simply meant that I thought everyone was looking for him because he had yet to surface (under the jsmooth name anyway) anywhere.

Kosar,
how the hell are ya?
It looks like once again we see eye to eye on issues,
like the one above on deadbeats (a welcher is one of the simplest, lowest forms of life; in comparison they make protozoans seem complicated and highly evolved),
and another one, not above, where you lent me some support.
It is appreciated.

Tried to e-mail you but had a HD crash a while back and lost some stuff.
Please e-mail me when you get a chance.
If you can't find my address just e-mail this site and Jack will forward it (thanks Jack).
