2008 World Series

Blue Jays +4050

If their offense can return to anything like its 2006 form, and their pitching can maintain its 2007 form (with solid starters Halladay,Burnett,Marcum (needs to keep the HR's down),McGowan), AND they get closer Ryan back, then I think that I'm likely still dreaming. I dunno...the East is a bitch with the Yanks and 'Sox both there, but there is some indications that the Jays should imporve upon their '07 results, where they did finish 4 games over .500 (Cubs were only 8 over and made the playoffs...oh, yeah...they're not in the AL East...)

This is fantasy and why should I tie up my money for a WHOLE year?

There...I think I got it out of my system...I should be okay.

OK. Don't tie your $$ up for 10 months- not to mention that its dead money to boot. If you insist, I'll book it and you won't need to post up. ... Just kidding FBI clown(s) monitoring.

I understand your view, but not sure the pitching will hold up to the degree it needs to to beat the rest of the division. Burnett is prone to injury, and Marcum does love the long ball. McGowan looks like a real ace, and Halladay is a real ace. Not sure how long Halladay can keep pitching at such a high level unless they do make a run soon.

Offensively, I don't think they currently have nearly enough to make a big push. They seem to have a lot of power hitters, but they didn't really hit for what you'd expect them to this season, and that also means they don't hit for average. Bad combo, really. Vernon Wells needs to bounce back big, and Frank Thomas will have to fight father time again. There just seem to be too many good young teams with potent lineups in the AL alone to put them in the World Series.

Great value at +4050, and they have shown that they will go to free agency to improve the team. Maybe with another great hitter and good pitcher, they could pull it off.

Might be worth a couple nickels...(real nickels), that is...

Good luck to your play, if you do it. There would be bigger reaches out there, for sure. Like maybe those young Devil Rays? A lot of up and coming talent on that squad...not enough, of course, but I think they'll make a jump next year.

Good topic for discussion. Again, it's possible to score with the Jays. About time they messed with the big boys again.

the Yankees crumblation only makes this more tempting.

still available.

my long-dead 2007 Jays Series bet, at +2550, just closed.

to grab another constant reminder of my folly or not to grab...

either way, I don't think this 40-to-1 will last long.
