Wager type : Straight Bet(s) Select #1 : NFL Football Washington Redskins 12/29/2002 1:00:01 PM - EST Spread -6?-110 for Game
Risking 550.00 To Win 500.00 USD

I am going out with a bang. This play looks so obvious, it almost scares me. I was waiting for the lines to come out for this final week, and this one just jumped off the page at me.

I would have put this line at 9, and perhaps even 10 points. I told myself that if the line was 7-9.5 I'd play it for a standard bet ($200). At 10, I'd pass. When I saw this line come out at only 6.5, I was in shock.

I've already pulled the trigger on this with a sizable bet -- but am contemplating making this my largest wager in history (I won't even say how much).

Can someone please explain to me how Dallas is going to cover this number? I am in the process of winding down my game analysis and fell no sense of credibility with the group. But I just can't conceive of Dallas having any emotion for this final game -- given the coaching situation (Campo out, Coslett out, etc.). Right now, Campo does not even know if he'll be coachig the team for the final game, according to reports. Dallas' offensive line is one of the worst in football -- and now is even worse since just about every starter is gone for the season. This offense can't run the ball, and can't score -- as shown the last two weeks. This is rock bottom for the Cowboys, who have absolutely no incentive to play hard on Sunday.

Washington, for all its troubles, is in a HUGE revenge situation. This is THE GAME they can break the 10-game losing streak to Dallas. Every player in Washington should be up for this game. Redskins know Spurrier will be the coach next season, so the team should play tough, as they did against Texans on Sunday. Indeed, Redksins have played pretty well in the second half of the season -- never quitting at any point.

Dallas HAS quit.

Coach gone. No offensive line. Emmit Smith fuming. Rookie QB. Washington should have won the first game by 10-points had it not been for the late interception. Best of all, this line is inside of 7 points, which strikes me as unbelievable.

I'm the ultimate contrarian, but what can possibly justify a wager on the Cowboys in this game. Anyone? Help!

the land of confusion
Nolan

I may be 10,000 miles away with limited NFL knowledge and experience, but from where I sit I can see two pretty crappy football teams. The skins ranked 24th and Dallas 28th (in my ranking system anyway) and both with poor for / against percentages. For you to even conceive doing 'a Scotty' and wanting to 'throw it the funk down' on one chit team versus another chit team seems ludicrous to me.

There is also the 10 game 'owning' of the skins by Dallas which concerns me. You see it in all sports all over the world. Some teams just match up well with other certain teams both physically, tactically and more importantly mentally!! No matter where they are on the ladder or in the standings, they just bring a little extra when they come out to play these teams.

Put another way again..... if I walked in to a casino and saw that a roulette wheel had spun up 10 reds in a row, I'd be laying my chips on the red once again to ride out the run rather than on the black, expecting the run to break. What color do you want to lay it the funk down on???

........but hey....just my opinion.....what the hell do I know!!!!

Merry Christmas all

In terms of motivation, you seem to have hit it on the head. Cowpokes have mailed it in and Campo can offer no motivation to get up for this one.

Only way I can see Cowboys winning here is to give the ball to Emmitt 20-30 times as a going away present. I think he still has alot in his tank and could be capable of a big game but Coslet refuses to give him the ball more then 10 times a game. He would rather see Hutchinson get the experience throwing the ball. Now that he is out the door and has no investment in the future , maybe he will give the Cowboys the best chance at winning, which is giving the ball to Emmitt.

By the way, how the hell does Coslet stay in the league?? He had no success anywhere since the days of Boomer and Icky Woods. If his resume showed up on my desk it would end up in the circular file so fast.

Who knows, maybe Jerry Jones will coach the team this week.

Nolan, you hit it right between the eyes......remember the first
game this season and all the hype about Spurier giving the game
ball to what's his name (owner)........well it will happen this
weekend, Cowgirl players are so pissed at the coaching staff
I'm suprised there has'nt been any fistacuffs.......did you see how
dejected Emmit was the last game, hell every time he got the
ball he ripped off yardage......if looks could kill Coslett's funeral
would be tomorrow.......the Redskins will take the Cowgirls to
the WOODSHED and God only knows what they will do to them...
the plane ride home after the game will probably be empty, the
players will scatter in 50 different directions.......I would'nt blame
you a bit for making this the biggest play of the season, one
totally dejected team that just wants to get the hell out of Dodge
who will play uninspired ball vs a teams seething with revenge
and pumped up ready to explode.........GOOD LUCK

I believe your right in getting it now. This line should move to 8 or above. If it does not you get that smell of why not. Neither team a big bargin. But it does have that 14 to 3 look at this time.

This team is dead.
I had alot of friends that went to the game sat. to see emmit in his last game here. didn't get to see nutten. player wouldn't
even look at the coaches mush less listen to em. The hole
atmosphere around dallas is as bad as it ever been. I know
this will be my biggest play of the year and i know I've got to
get it in quick cause it gonna go up and probely aready has.
maybe stupid but this team sucks

Personally, I dont trust Washington. Spurrier seems clueless as to the workings of the NFL. Dallas' D had been solid all the way up until the last 3 weeks. I'm sure they'll notice 2 Redskin RBs topped 100 yards and if they stop the run, then you're asking Patrick Ramsey to get the cover. You may be right about Dallas quitting, but I'm always wary of these ugly dogs in the NFL. Even if the players don't like Campo, they still have contracts to play for and starting positions to earn/or keep. Let's face it, individual stats drive contracts, not winning. Not that Dallas is a play, but I doubt I'll be laying a touchdown on this one.

I think you have uncovered a gem here. Looking at the Cowboy players, especially Smith, the team has nothing left in the way of motivation. Can't see the coach giving the ball to ES 20-30 times because if he has success, it will only make coach look more stupid than he is now. There is no offesne and the defense has gone south. If (when) they get behind , it is tough to seem them catching up. In fact, it is tough to see them even scoring a gimme at the end for a backdoor. Spurrier, on the other hand, would take a win if it meant running over his grandmother. This is a perfect scenario for Spurrier and the Skins to build for next year.

If I you have any idea what kind of sum sucking
money hugry pig - Jerry Jones is.....

You'll know he'll order Campo to tank this game
to get a higher draft pick.......

Also - Spurrier said at the begining of the season that when
he beats the Cowboys...he's gonna give the ball to owner
Daniel Snyder.....

I like the Redskins alot here....
Tease looks SPECTACULAR

Redskins at home coming off a win
Cowboys on the road...coming off division losses to Philly/Giants.....yuk.....let's make it three

Also - the over/under is at 36.5.....
Low scoring dominating game by the Redskins ????
23-7 ???

AND, being athe Skins fan that I am, THEY WILL BEAT the Cowboys in this game.
There is no way they go into a long offseason with another LOSS to them.Spurrier has to come through with that damn game ball for Snyder!Payback is a bitch and the Skins are lying in wait.
Just blitz the shit out of Hutchinson, and contain Emmit.
On offense, RUN THE SHIT OUT OF THE BALL ,shit.
Can't think of a better way to end a losing season.

Hail To The Redskins, Hail VICTORY!

Absolutely love the 'Skins in this one. Loved it prior to this weekend and love it even more now.

Spurrier will do anything to win this one and avenge Thanskgiving day debacle.

You're right, I can't picture Parcels as a Cowgirl head coach either,
he's got WAY to much class, coaching ability, and smarts for JJ......
JJ made his bed, now he has to sleep in it.......to bad, so sad........

just another tid bit regarding a dallas trend. dallas has failed to cover their last regular season away game since 1996. six straight losses. in 1995, they won last away game and went on to win superbowl. i could not get any prior info.

the flip side is that dallas is 11-4 against the spread vs wash in last 15 games dating back to 1995. ironically dallas lost both games straight up against wa in 1995 sb year.
