i too like Washington alot to WIN.. the only thing that makes me hesitate laying 6 points is the damn FIELD GOAL KICKER... Washington picked up Jose Cortez.. who was let go by the 49ers.s...early in the season. Cortez is surely going to cost the Redskins 6 points.

I hope it hits..!!!

NOLAN your half time angles have been gold for me thank you !

That being said THIS game, the Cincy/Buff game or the Min/Det game qualifies under my LOAJP play.

Yep Peter, Paul & Mary strike up the tune ,..."All my bags are packed I'm ready to go, I'm standing here outside your door, I hate to wake you up to say goodbye, but the dawn is breaking it's early morn, the taxi's waiting he's blowing his horn........."

LEAVING ON A JET PLANE. DON'T CARE IF I WIN OR LOSE OH BABE I DON'T WANT TO GET INJURED IN THIS GAME !

Thats right these 3 teams have absolutely nothing to play for and Cincy is on the clock!

Would you want to risk getting hurt in these games for a Lame Duck coach. No Way. Yep I agree the best side is going against any of these three teams especially the ones who don't have to face the home crowd!

Dallas & Cincy. :nono:

BUFFALO & WASHINGTON only side I can play in these games not saying I will risk big $$$ on them but I look for these every year last game OF THE SEASON.

Hail to the Redskins

Hail to the Redskins

The rookie QB Harrington has been terrible on the road. The Cowboys have not scored more than 13 on the road all year. If the old ball coach keeps his head out of his ass and runs the ball the Redskins should defeat the Cowboys rather easily. Look for Bruce Smith to be fired up as this could be his last game and he is within 3 of Reggie Whites career sack record. He had a field day last time they played. Campo's situation and him stating he wants to get Emmitt his thousand yards no matter what shows that the Cowboys are not focusing on winning the game. Look for the cowgirls to fold the tent if they get behind early.

Scott:

I think I have 8 plays this week. Last week I had 13.

Changes are to be implemented on Jan 1st. I think I stated that in the report.

What I wanted to stress was that I would NOT be analyzing every NBA/NFL etc game daily like in years past. TOTALS and angles will be the main focus.

Again, I stated that these changes would begin at the start of the new year and that I would also make comments on the playoff games -- since the number of games is very limited.

Nolan:

Just a quick question. All my books have Wash at -7. My local doesn't put out lines until the morning, but he's also fav-heavy, so it's very unlikely I'll get anything better than 7 from him. Would you recommend buying the .5 point to get to -6.5, or just let it ride on -7??

Appreciate the reply. Best of luck tomorrow! :)

Sorry Nolan I did not remember seeing jan 1 as the date in the report. Thats two days away.

There are 9 plays not 8. and thats closer to the 13.

I am going to say that I dont think that these 9 plays have a chance to go over .500. How good do you feel about these picks ?
3-6 maybe but not 5-4.

MIAMI (pick) vs. NEW ENGLAND

MINNESOTA -3 (-115) vs. DETROIT

TEASER: WASHINGTON -.5 / MINNESOTA +2.5

WASHINGTON -6.5 vs. DALLAS (BEST BET)

1H: CINCINNATI +4 vs. BUFFALO

CINCINNATI +7 vs. BUFFALO

DENVER -11 vs. PHOENIX

TENNESSEE / HOUSTON UNDER 36.5

To Scott: You are correct, I miscounted. I have 9 plays this week listed, which is certainly down from my normal 12-14 plays per week. I'm not sure what your point is in spitting hairs on this matter......I could certainly save myself a lot of time by only capping one or two games and doing one or two write ups per week. But I think the readers (some of them, anyway) want as much information as possible. The plays may not win, but if you think skipping the games or putting up a blank page is better than what I'm doing, perhaps you should look elsewhere for analysis.

I say that to you respectfully because what I do often deviates from the plays that are listed on Firdays. While I almost always play the picks I post (there are rare occasions when I lay off a game due to late breaking news), I play many more games than are listed. Last week, I ran to the window and layed a sizable wager down on the UNDER in the BUFF-GB when they showed the flags blowing and the wind gusting at 30 mph. I did the same thing the week before in the BUFF-SD game. On Monday night, I ran tot he window when I saw PITT was getting the ball first and layed another unit down on PITT for the 1H. On and on.

My point is -- I can't always post all the plays I acutally make. It's impossible. I try my best to look at the games in advance and render an opinion. It's my opinion. And, I try to tell you why I think the way I do. I'm right sometimes. I'm wrong sometimes. That's gambling.

As far as what games I like better than others and what I predict my record will be -- you are far too bright to expect a reasonable answer to that question. I have read your material here at the site and for the most part been impressed and learned from your perspectives. However, if you DO NOT like the plays and you expect them to go 4-5 or 3-6, then by all means FADE THEM! At the very least, I'd sure like to hear WHY you like the other side of these games.

It's easy to suggest a pick is wrong, but I think it would be far more beneficial to the group of you could give us your thoughts as to why these picks will go 4-5 or 3-6. I know I have a lot to learn, so please help me out.

To Dubs: I intentinoally put out this play early because I knew that line would move to -7. I LOVED this game at -6.5, but at -7 is loses some value. Based on my figures, I say this bet loses about 15 percent of value having to lay -7. In that case, I'd lay it, but not as heavy. I would also buy the half point, although the numbers do not justify it as a wise betting investment. Generally, buying off the 7 is not wise, but in this case with rivals in what could be a low scoring game, I believe it's justifed.

Best Wishes,

Nolan Dalla

One point that Nolan made which I concur with fully. There's always going to be a time/bet discontinuity. It's just part of the natural process. A bettor reacts to situations. Obviously, you're going to get your bets down rather than post em on some msg board.

I for one have enjoyed reading Nolan's column and have benefitted from his work this year.

Scott,

this logic just plain sucks. You may very well be correct in your astute anaylsis, but why not offer reasons?

By just saying team x will just kick team y's ass doesnt really help anyone. You may have some solid reasons that some us us--even Nolan has overlooked or not thought about.

That is what this page is all about--trying to help others and ourselves. Not sure how much value a comment like the above generates. JMO.

Because I am not Nolan thats why Novakht !

Do you think that the people that spend alot of time analyzing
these games can pick games any better than the rest of us ?

Most of the time they can and do.

The point is watch the board and follow the ones that offer you consistant reliable information. Nolan is one of them that does this. I am just trying to get him to fine tune Sundays plays.

Time spent analyzing has nothing to do with it.You may have spent 6 hours looking at the miami/ new england game and came up with the comment you did.Nolan may have spent 5 mins to come up with his write up.

Providing reasons and theories to support your position helps others make a decison on that game.I often disagree with Nolan's picks, but part of it is reading why he likes each game and the writeup that backs up his thoughts.

Just by saying that new england will kick Miami's ass helps no one.It provides no real benefit.

My goal is to beat the man.I dont blindly follow anyone.Reasons, facts, weather, strengths, past history and many other factors go into my decsion to bet a game.It is helpful to me when people get together and provide thoughts on why a game will or wont cover.

Nice pick....To be honest-and honesty is not a type of bashing-I think people kiss Nolans ass around this sight, and all he has to show for it is a 50 whatever percentage (not unlike many cappers on this site)

Oh by the way-don't give me the s**t about how many posts I have.. Its about quality -not quantity

"the bunker"
nolan had it right

nolan had it right

the redskins are about as undisciplined a team as these eyes have ever seen...that should have been an easy cover...from players running on the field before a play is over negating a fumble recovery on the 10,to a hail mary on a 4th and 14 with 3 miutes left....washington dominated as nolan indicated...i think maybe spurrier might be in over his in the pros...skins have no discipline...
