i follow csu hoops pretty close (unfortunately, lol) and one thing ive learned over the years is that the "chicago-swing" is a VERY tough trip for cleveland state. massimino has brought some pretty solid csu teams into uic/loyola and the vikings struggled big time. even the teams a few years ago with damon stringer- who was probably the best player csu has had since mcfadden back in the day- even stringers teams struggled in chicago. i wasnt overly surprised by the line. it was slightly higher than i expected. i thought 12-13 would have been the line. this game is a game in contrasting styles. uic leads the horizon in scoring, and the vikings are near the top in defense. if uic jumps to a big lead early- csu doesnt have the scorers to catch up. the last few years- csu had some dynamite scorers (stringer, harris, dixon, etc). now, they rely on tough man defense to stay close and win games in ugly fashion, simply because they dont have enough scorers. DD dogs in the horizon traditionally are good plays- so i dont blame you for considering csu, but if the vikings got smacked tonight, i woudnt be overly surprised. i really feel like rollie thinks the loyola game on saturday is the one game they can "steal". i think hes just hoping to stay close tonight and not got blown out.
gl with your decision.
