with all the Obama bashing going on, istopped to ask myself..if elected what wouldJjohn McCain be doing different right now and how or what kind of affect would he be having on the nation and world. I mean this is the guy who knew how to end the war on Iraq but decided against sharing his top secret military plans...probably would of crashed 35 fighter jets into Baghdad and after the pilots were captured they would of been instructed to tell a shitload of lies to discumbobulate the enemy. Would he be investing in our youth and pouring billions of dollars into education? Well only can be answered by wondering and dreaming but it is an interesting thought, and there would still be alot of crazy kkkooks still in the closet as well...if nothing else Obama becoming POTUS has shown that racism isn't only a color thing but it's as if the colors have been blurred through political parties in this newer form of it. You betcha America better wake up and do so fast, if these lines of divide keep infiltrating the mindset of the average joe the generations coming are over there heads in shot before they hit the womb.

Fortunatly for Obama, Bush won the war in Iraq through an amazingly unpopular action that Obama fought against tooth and nail against at the time and now attempts to replicate Afganistan - and I pray his actions are as successful. So, no need to crash fighter jets into the capital of the 2nd (and only arab) democracy in the middle east. Grasping at straws on that new form of racism tact. Victimization complexes die hard. You'll feel better if you just release yourself from that mentality.

Bush won the war? :142smilie :142smilie
You can argue that The Surge worked but the war was lost long before the Surge ever took place. Bush, through Rumsfeld said the war would pay for itself and would last 5 months tops. The war has been a wet dream for bin Laden and bankcrupt our country.

So, Americans feel how they do because Obama's a nigga?

No administration does a fucking thing to help this country. None have for decades, now. Your "boy" is just the next scapegoat in the chair. The guy after him will inherit THIS mess, and so on.

Dems will hate the GOP, and the GOP will hate the Dems. Nothing will change.

But the race thing is laughable. If there were enough "good ol boys" to matter, the guy would have never been voted in.

Most wars take longer and cost more than expected. Bottom line, after a struggle, the US has won - Saddam is gone, there are free elections and its a fragile but functioning democracy that is growing stronger by the day as our troops continue to leave. As bad as some liberals might have liked to have seen the US lose the war, the facts speak for themselves. Did the North lose the Civil War because they thought the war would be over in a few months and dragged on for years costing hundreds of thousands of lives and $? War is hell, yet there are still victors and losers. Pretty hard to argue that Saddam won, or the Bathists or that Al Queda+assorted foriegn fighters who came to Iraq to make a stand against the US and had the population turn on them and were annihalted where winners. There is a sad, yet desparte attempt by the left to turn this victory into defeat. If they say the war was lost enough, it will somehow supercede facts.

Did you ever think that al-Queda was going to defeat us militarily? They wanted to beat us financialy. The only chance they has was if we put boots on the ground in Afaghanastan. The fact they we went broke in Iraq is a dream to them. It is tru the war still rages. Iraq was simply a battle. A battle that United States did not need to fight. If you judge it was a victory because Saddam is gone then we should have left as soon as he was captured.
Obama is making a mistake putting more boots in Afgah.
We have the mightest military in the history of the world. The only way we lose is if we play at their level.

Realistically, Flapjack, what do you feel the U.S. has gained by the war in Iraq? And, depending on what you think we have gained by it, do you think it was worth it in dollars, lives, and world opinion? I can understand some points about why we could be better off being there - but in no way do I feel those were why we really were taken there, especially initially - as a country, anyway.

I'm not attacking you, I just wonder exactly what people who feel that "we won" think we won? I know that some here who were supportive of the effort initially - the WMD reason - changed their opinion when our "objectives" changed depending on what was happening in Iraq through the years. I think it's very simplistic to just say what a great thing it is - all the peripherals - that really had nothing to do with why we were told we had to engage in the elective war in the first place. Sorry to add a little personal take on it when asking - but I do feel pretty strongly about this part of things.

You don't get to undo your vote to go to war with IRAQ, the Democrats and the Liberal news media are in my opinion, responsilbe for more DEATH in Iraq, because they played POLITICS while we have troops on the ground, the Video shows the Democrat position before the war, they shouldn't be allowed to rewrite history.

Or was it the Democrats that LIED about WMD?

TIA MHO.

I don't have time to get into this now - baseball game to go to. But to blame Democrats at that point in political history when they were using the falsified information that was provided to them by the Bush cartel is simply off target. Any democrat who didn't blindly sign on to supporting the falsified information was labeled un-American and unpatriotic - and although I wish more would have stood up to the situation, I can certainly understand it.

To never place any blame on the falsified/fabricated information that caused essentially everyone to feel the need to support the war, is ridiculous. But that's a quick argument, for now. You continually blame democrats, and refuse to admit what 95% of the world now knows - the case for war was at least doctored - and at worst a complete lie to achieve personal goals by the right wing war machine.
