sony dvd/vcr combo recorder....can`t record movies off cable?

wtf....a copyright infringement issue?.....i`ve taped a thousand cable movies off cable with my vcr`s......

whay would anybody buy the damned thing to begin with?.....to tape soap operas?...family videos....

i like taping movies...i pay an arm and a leg for cable....

why wouldn`t sony make this clear before people buy the thing...take it home...unpack and set it up...

i`m thoroughly pissed...

any way around this...

i taped a movie...saw the studio preamble(the whire unicorn riding across the screen)...then the movie starts...soound but no picture....

help!!!

the vcr apparatus tapes movies off cable....but not the dvd.....

so it`s copyright infringement if you use a dvd...but,not a vcr?....

that`s ridiculous...

update..the sony rdrvx515 had some serious copyright protections on it.....couldn`t tape/ record movies off premium cable channels....

took the sony back....grabbed a panasonic dmr es40vs dvd/vcr combo recorder.....works like a champ.....and a little less expensive

particularly effective with the panasonic dvd-ram discs....not necessary to format the dvd-ram....
got several 5 packs at best buys for $9.99 each...they were 12.99 at circuit city...

had a little trouble with some dvd-rw`s.......probably due to my my inexperience...

super vhs input...digital audio and video inputs...hooked the stereo up to it......

you can tape to dvd while watching a vhs tape and vice/versa...

the vcr picture and sound quality was much better than my older vcr...the dvd quality is exactly the same as shown on the t.v...no loss of quality...

set-up was easy...some of the more involved functions are a little obtuse....the manual is o.k...as i said,i`m not a dvd expert...far from it...

dubbing vhs to tape and vice versa was a piece of cake...

liked it so much,i went out and got a second one...

can`t believe that sony was barring the recording of premium cable channel content.....i can understand blockbuster doing it....content that i`m paying comcast to watch at my leisure...
