The first full tourney of the 2008 season. Here is last years thread. I am flying out Tuesday morning and returning Thursday so I don't think I will be able to get any pre tourney plays in.
Here is the field I'm interested in 2 gloves gainey and also Jason Day.
KEYS TO WINNING THE SONY OPEN
! Most important thing about playing at Waialae is the
elements, it?s a fun course for the pros in which they can
go low with no wind, so low that breaking 60 is a
possibility. The big defense the course has is the wind,
you may get one windless day but that would be a
stroke of luck, so look for those that can handle windy
conditions.
! Look for Bermuda green specialists. Greens are very
grainy with funky breaks so look for those who putt well
in Florida doing well here. Every winner from the last
decade plays great on Bermuda grass.
! Lots of greenside bunkers with pins tucked right behind
them. Need to be a good bunker player.
So what will it take to win? The ability to play well in
windy conditions and putt well on grainy Bernuda greens.,
hit the ball a long way and play well in windy conditions.
Except for Goydos win last year in the last decade marquee
names have won which makes you think that the course is
perfect for a player with experience in winning. Despite
being the first full field event of the year the choice of winner
won?t be some newcomer.

I will put some other thoughts down, if I am in the mood. IMO it all depends on the weather here, this course is completely different than this week. Good to see a lot of people for week 1.. hope yall stay

I like the way Boo and Hunter have finished off this tourney. They are near the top of my list for next week.

Can't believe Choi is 25/1 after the Mercedes - that guy has never been so skinny :mj07:

Still - I'm gonna stick with him this week, reasonable pair of 69s over the weekend will set him up for a good start.

Furyk and Stricker are the obvious choices here, so did I get on them? No. Took Howell3 at what I thought was a decent price, 30-1. He played decent here last year, and improved his score everyday last week. Not an easy thing to do.

Charles Howell 30-1 SIA 1 unit

I was looking for Yusaku Miyazato for a place bet or a top 10, no luck. This Japan Tour player is pretty impressive for a non-winner. He is 510-1 at betfair, and that is better than decent.

My fade list this week is Badds, Sned, and Flesch. I'll see if I can work them into a M/U this week.

Ha, I'm doing good. Been living the American dream these past few years now back home in the motherland.

What'd I miss around these parts? Stanley's site is looking great.

Wow, indeed!

Welcome back to the forum, Monarch ... and cold, wet England :D

Hope you had a good time in New York.

What's changed in the last 5/6 years? You've missed a lot of real good new posters coming to the forum ... it's taking me a long time to track the posted plays these days ... and I'm not enjoying tracking my own plays as much these days either :tongue

Seems a long time since the UK boys - me, Monarch, Ian, Clive, Bettingmad, Steved, etc. - made the forum rather one-sided during Ryder Cup week :D

Who's next to return? One of the NZ boys? :00hour
