Looking for a little assistance from my fine southern friends here at Madjacks in planning a vacation down south, and here are my parameters:

1) Planning trip in Aug or Sept

2) Looking for a condo or Beach house that will sleep 8

3) Wanting an area that is on the ocean and has alot of golfing and fishing areas.

4) Most of my past travel down south has been to the Daytona/Ponce Inlet areas of Florida and I want to find somewhere with a different experience.

5) Pretty much narrowed my areas down to Florida, Bama, Miss, and Georgia, as I feel that North Carolina and South Carolina might be too cold for the beach at that time of the year. I know I am missing Louisianna but other than New orleans I know nothing about the state.

I have been checking a few spots out on line but I was wanting some suggestions from folks that have been to areas in these states so I can get a better gauge. Appreciate any help that anyone can lend to me on this plan.

MC... if you post the cities you are interested in, i'll post a link and the airport code for you, so that you can go in and look at the high/low temp averages.

MC, I agree with taoist, while I am a northern, I go with my wife's family every June to Hilton Head there are 16 of us that go down, it's a blast. there are plenty of houses for rent right on the ocean, prices aren't cheap, but still worth it. Plenty of golf, fishing, nice beaches, good restaurants really not a bad thing to say about the place, except for the traffic driving to the island from Savannah, GA. and I can guarantee it will still be warm in Aug and Sept.

august or sept in south carolina are great! Myrtle beach has sooo much golf, great courses and good rates. Hilton Head is awesome too.

I always go to Hilton Head island in South Carolina. Just a ferry ride over to Savannah also.

Mid August temps 85-90 degrees. You can get a nice condo sleeping 8 anywhere from 700 and up for the week.

If you look online I recommend the Hilton Head golf and Tennis Resort. There is something there for the whole family to do.

If your wanting golf Hilton head is the place

If your wanting beaches Destin is the place

If your wanting fishing i would say every place i mentioned above plus Louisiana

if you want golf, beaches, and fishing then i would probably say Destin or Gulf Shores.

consider the sunset beach, nc area. plenty of golf and fishing, and just 30 minutes from the myrtle beach night life but much more peaceful and family oriented.

First of all, thanks for all the great ideas some of these places that were suggested I had never even heard of and I am going to check out each of them. Guess I wasn't using the old noodle when I presummed that North Carolina and South Carolina were not warm in Sept, but I was using that Ohio thinking where we shut down Summer on Labor Day. As i type we are in the tail end of another snowstorm and the temp is around 30, I really don't see how myself and other folks that live in Ohio, Penn, or anywhere east or north of here can stand to live their lives in such miserable weather.

Louisiana is a SHIT hole--even New Orleans...plus it'll be 100 degrees with 200% humidity..

Good job avoiding that area like the plague

if you want a very relaxing trip, try Fripp Island,S.C. 2 golf courses on the island, and once there the main mode if transportation is by golf cart. not very crowded like hilton head can get. have fun!!
