You think ANYONE on this forum read the book "Field of Dead Horses" because they heard so much about it from their friends or because they know you?

I guess we are all idiots here as well because NOBODY here buys that book if they don't know you.

Fucking stupid thread that makes me wish I hadn't bought the book, I wonder if Costco will take it back?

Penguinfan - you bought his book because you know him - not because of where he lives. Your point has no relevance to his post.

Penquin, see above.

It's about "where" - "geographically'.

It is a mindless process of "I live here" and my favorite team is X because I live near them.

THIS makes sense to you? That some cockhole's favorite team is the fucktarddolphins because the fuckhole lives in Miami?

I can see you at the boys' games in a few years, cheering on the other team. When people ask wtf you are doing, you can just blithely say, "Go fuck yourself. What? I'm supposed to root for them just because they live closer to me than the Jones boy?"

I know you don't get it. You didn't have to explain to me that you don't understand. I knew that before.

I am a Vol fan by marital agreement - meaning.....I pretend to like them and accept free shirts and hats from my in-laws.

Gotcha. It's cool to choose teams because of where your wife lives, just not where you live.

Thanks for sharing your views.

I'll keep rootin for chicago teams because it all comes down to civic pride......because I love my town. And the bears and the white sox and the bulls and Italian beefs and hot dogs and my skyline an lake Michigan and office chicks in fishnets. It's my kinda town.

One more time: I am so fucking right about this topic it isn't even funny.

No you aren't?!!? I am a Chicago fan in every way and I live in Fort Worth. I became a fan of them because of civic pride in my hometown, just as BBC said. My daughter is a Mavericks fan because she likes Dirk Nowitzki, and has gone to a couple of games. What you are saying is absurd. People become fans of teams because that is their only option. Their hometown teams aren't always televised, the only games they can get tickets to are in their geographical area. You eat the food you eat because of your geographic area?!!? You don't eat Italian beef combos because they aren't available to you. You are a product of your environment just like everyone else. The only difference is I don't pretend to like any teams that I don't root for.

Hope that helps,

You are so fucking wrong about this it makes me hate you.

My analogy is spot on. In a virtual world (where Madjacks exists) you are the local guy. I bought the book because of that.

Besides, who the fuck are you to tell me who I can and can't root for and why I can do it?

Piss off.

Doesn't make sense. So....you would be an Oregon Ducks fan if you lived near their campus?

Shouldn't you buy something or be a fan of something based on if you think you might like it or have a genuine interest in it instead of "I live near it so I automatically like it."

Growing up in Kentucky, I rooted for the Cincinnati Reds because they were close enough that my family could drive there for a game. Could not follow other teams except through the newspaper scores the next day. Root for the Falcons and Braves now, and have through thick and thin. Still like the Reds. That will not change. Support the local teams now because, again, I can go see them in person and they have "grown" on me.
