What happens when you get pulled over for an overdue inspection sticker? What is the fine for that?

Each county has different rules, but I know some counties if you get your car inspected in a short time frame then you can get the ticket dismissed. I think the ticket runs around $150, but check the county rules on their website.
I have a pickup that I use as a second vehicle and drive it only occasionally. I have not had it inspected for over five years and finally decided that the ticket that I will eventually get (?) will be cheaper than the stickers that I have not bought.
