AR,

I would also say stay on this one, although a rivalry, New Mexico should slap them around handily this evening. I do not always count on the score provided below but here is some insight from a site I watch regularly...............

The Sports Network

DATE & TIME: Tuesday, November 28th, 9:00 p.m. (et).

GAME NOTES: The I-25 rivalry between New Mexico State and New Mexico logs its 197th meeting tonight, as the squads meet at The Pit in Albuquerque. The Lobos are off to a perfect 4-0 start and have yet to really be challenged. While the first two victories of the season came against weaker opponents like Abilene Christian and Sacramento State, the Lobos have blown away a couple of Big 12 Conference foes as well with a 106-65 thrashing of Colorado and a 78-54 triumph against Kansas State at home a week ago. As for the Aggies, they've had to play without their top player in Tyrone Nelson who, after serving a suspension, broke his hand and is now out indefinitely. As a result, NMSU is just 1-2 following a 102-87 setback to Arizona on the road nine days ago. Beginning in Las Cruces back in 1904, New Mexico currently leads the all-time series between the squads by a count of 104-92. The Lobos captured a 71-68 overtime win over the Aggies a season ago at The Pit after losing on the road in the first meeting of the year. The last victory for the Aggies at UNM was a 72-60 decision in 2002.

A total of six players scored in double figures against Arizona the last time out, and still the Aggies failed to put a tally in the win column. Fred Peete scored a team-best 18 points, but he shot just 6-of-18 from the field while making 5-of-10 from three-point range. Martin Iti added 16 points, Justin Hawkins and Elijah Ingram 13 apiece, while Jonathan Gibson and Ted Knauber contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively. The team shot an impressive 13- of-27 (.481) behind the three-point line, but at the same time NMSU allowed the Wildcats to convert 12-of-21 (.571) out on the perimeter. Another problem was that the Aggies were outscored at the free-throw line, 18-6. Hawkins has been forced into the leading role in terms of scoring with the absence of Nelson, hitting for 14.7 ppg. Certainly Hawkins, who leads the group with eight rebounds per game, would have a better scoring average if not for 34.9 percent shooting from the floor and 59.1 percent at the free-throw line. So far this season the Aggies are shooting an impressive 48.3 percent beyond the arc, but defensively the squad is allowing opponents to convert an unheard of 51.9 percent, not to mention 52.7 percent from the floor overall.

Aside from his seven turnovers, with just a single assist, J.R. Giddens continues to be the best thing in Albuquerque after recording a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Kansas State. Also posting a double-double for the group was Aaron Johnson who dropped in 10 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in the lopsided decision. In addition to limiting the Wildcats to only 6-of-22 shooting beyond the arc, New Mexico also held the visitors to a paltry 28.6 percent shooting effort from the floor overall. Giddens, the leading scorer in each of the first four games for the Lobos, is currently the only double-digit scorer for the group with his 20.8 ppg. What's even more remarkable about his play thus far is that he's also second on the unit with 9.3 rpg playing mostly at the guard position. Johnson, a 59.1 percent shooter from the field, is one of the nation's leaders with 11.5 rpg for a team that is completely blowing away the competition by 34.6 ppg. Holding teams to just 57.2 ppg is one thing, but the Lobos are also keeping those foes to a mere 32.8 percent from the floor and 23.6 percent behind the three-point line.

Until Nelson makes it back onto the floor for the Aggies they are going to continue to struggle against any and all opponents. While this meeting always takes on a different meaning despite how the teams have played during the season, there's little chance that Giddens and Co. will be denied.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: New Mexico 95, New Mexico State 68
