lets just hope my pittsburgh steelers do not select phillip rivers with their first pick, ideally it would be great if the steelers could trade down, select veron carey and receive an exta second round pick, if this happens which is very unlikely the steelers then take matt ware if around at 44 or rashaun woods, yes a receiver due too the fact burress could be on his way out following the 2004 season, if the steelers stay at number 11, their are 4 players that come in mind shawn andrews, veron carey, deangelo hall or maybe chris gamble, the best scenario which is impoosible is too trade up and grab sean taylor, i plead and plead for the steelers to not go qb with their first pick, I will be be extremely outraged if phillip rivers is the name called, best of luck fellow steeler fans

Have to disagree here. Steelers have to pick Rivers if he's still available. Hall would be the first choice but he will be draft around 7th-8th spot. Rivers fits exactly in the Steelers mold. He will be a plus for the team. He isn't big headed big ego guy that only play to get his big paycheck. I really see that qb getting more success in the NFL than Roethlisberger and even Manning! If he is available, they got to pick him!

Anyway, we'll talk about Steelers draft picks in few hours now...;)

I wish the Falcons would take Phillip Rivers and give Vick something to worry about.

Then when Vick gets hurt this year we got a QB of the future.

the problem with the steelers of a year a ago especially on offence was the offensive line specifically the right side, with the absense of wayne gandy too the saints via free agency in 2003 marvel smith moved to the right side, todd fordham was picked up last year to play the right tackle position competing with oliver ross, both guys are backs ups so this position needs to be addressed, this particualr draft lacks depth at the tackle position, andrews or carey who can also play guard would make an impact short term and long term, maddox is fine, need pass protection and a healthy line too establish the run with the additon of staley and bettis, and a healthy kendall simmons, jeff hartings and marvel smith, on the defensive side the cornerbacks of terry fair , a young ike taylor, an overpaid chad scott, and an average nickel guy in deshea townsend, hall, robinson, or gamble would be solid picks to compete with that bunch, the free safety position is in dire need with the usc kid will be playing strong safety and possibly mike logan playing free, this could be a problem, rivers might be gone earlier then 11 anyways the gmen are interested in moving up to number 1 to grab manning, and the chargers take rivers plus extra picks, highly unlikely the chargers give up on a guy like manning though

I completely agree that the Steelers shouldn't take a QB.

I had it in my mock draft simply because that's what they appear to be gunning so hard to get.

Maddox is fine, and the issue is the offensive line, but is Pittsburgh willing to draft an OT who's projected to go a bit later in the round this high (a la Cincinnati with Levi Jones)?

In my opinion, you draft what position you need, not the best talent on the board. Obviously there are exceptions, but for Pit to be a better team THIS year, they need a OT, or an impact CB.

The NYG have the same disease, they want a QB because its a flashy move, and it will allow them to make Kerry Collins the scapegoat for the team's failures the past 2 seasons, and then they change face with Eli Manning. Oh by the way, Kerry Collins just took them to the Super Bowl a few seasons ago.

Same thing with Pittsburgh. Draft a QB, blame Maddox when he struggles again this year with no O-line in front of him, get rid of him, and bring in a new guy to give the team a fresh start.

Buffalo has a keen interest in a QB as well yet they have a starter for next season.

Maybe one day I'll be making these decisions instead of some of these boneheads.

i will be honest, i am a little disappointed here even though, benny boy could be a great qb for the steelers for may years, benny boy does not help this team right now, as the weaknesses of this club still need addressing, the thought of steeler management was probably they felt that the best player on the board was benny and they were surprised he fell to eleven so they fell into the best player available mentality at number 111, still do not understand dennis greens philosophy with bolden and johnson at wide out, and they do take a future pro bowler on fitzgerald, the raiders should of grabbed fitzgerals, and the cards take rotheisberger, then the steelers wouldnt have the oppurtunity to take either qb in rivers or big benjamin, oh well thats the way it goes lets just hope benny boy wont turn out into another ryan leaf or david klingler

It is truly amazing that the Steelers refuse to regognize, or god forbid, admit that the defense sucks and do something about it. Another losing season is on the way in Pittsburgh and many more to come until the Rooney's sell the team. The Rooney's get so much credit still these days for what Art Sr did, things have changed since the days of Mr. Rooney and this ownership is nothing short of a cancer.
