You would make a post telling everyone to play Texas big -11.5 (which is probably what you had a chance at had you not waited) and then do a complete 180 saying there is no value in the play because it jumped a whopping half point? Why would you even post this (and not even play it) when it could have a detrimental impact on your followers or people looking for an edge?

Count me in the crowd that's not buying your rationale. I think you had other reasons but suit yourself.

Honestly, that really is my rationale. I played it at 11.5 but I would not recommend playing it at -12.

"Lay the lumber," is a synonym for, "lay the wood," or, "lay the points." It has nothing to do with the size of the wager, just the fact that it is a lot of points to give. I play my bets for pretty much a consistent amount anyway. It only varies slightly from bet to bet.

Wilson, don't worry about my bet size. Most of the largest bettors in the world are square as can be.

There is no difference between 11.5 and 12...No one caps an 11.5 spread thinking they will win by 12..no more, no less...normailly I agree with you Nick, but you've painted yourself in a corner on this one....that's like Stickball jumping from -120 to -130....should add confidence to your play, not scare you off with your tail between your legs...regardless, good luck with your plays...and keep up the good work

I just don't see where I painted myself into a corner or anything like that. I made a play at -11.5. I posted the play with the lines still at -11.5. The play went to -12 so I warned anyone who might have been thinking of backing that play that I would not recommend still making the play at -12. That's all that I meant to do.

I know that most folks disagree with passing on a play because of a 1/2 point move, but there are times where I do. I don't play a lot of college basketball games so it's not like any college basketball play is gonna be out of this world strong for me. Had this been an NBA play I probably still would have recommended the play at -12 because I feel more confident about NBA bets. This play was not a numbers play at all, only based on local media reports. I'm just glad the play won.

Each one half point is equal to a certain percent win rate. I am not sure what it is in college baskets but I know what it is in football. Fool yourself if you like the price and the spread do matter.

Geno, I think we can all agree about the percentage differential. No matter how you try to explicate it, that half point rise had no bearing on losing that bet. It's a PUSH! You can't win the game by 11.7 or 11.8 points so why throw up a red flag that it is no longer a sound play at -12? He even stated that this may have been his only play in the entire tournament, obviously conveying a strong lean. It works both ways in NBA and College so what's the difference?
