first off stephen a smith is about as big as a racist as john thompson is.

second i agree with volfan i do not see were steroids help u make contact with the ball. yes they do give u some advantages for healing and muscle and weight gain but i have never seen a study were it gives you better hand eye coordination.

what gets me and i never hear anyone talk about is that the pitching of today is lame to say the least. i am a baseball historian and the pitchers of today just flat out suck. yes i know players are better and more skillful blah blah blah. but if this is the case then why aren't pitchers able to produce 300+ innings like in the good ole days. you look back a history and it was not uncommom for a pitcher to pitch 2 complete games in a 4 day period. hell now adays your lucky to get 2 complete games a season from most pitchers.

i think too much is put on the pitch count and tired arms. plus bullpens are just terrible. do a lil research and look back to the late 70's early 80's team era's were in the low 4's in the a.l. and 3.7 in the n.l. plus throw in expansion, move the fences in and walla you have more hr's.

the bottom line baseball has done this too itself. people love the long ball and it sells tickets. i hardly ever hear anyone say they enjoyed a 1-0 pitchers dual anymore. so if anything i just am not buying into the steroid debate as too why these guys are producing hr's at an alarming rate. i think poor decisions by owners and the commisioners in this league. bad pitching and pampering these guys, expansion have all contirbuted to what the game is today. of course the so called writing experts of this sport would lead us believe differently.

But not me.

F'k stephen a @ss - his show validates racism because he has no talent. i have heard enough of him on the espn reality show when they looked for another sportscaster - i have never watched his personal show. he was so annoying anytime he ever spoke on espn - i refuse to watch it. :nono:


bonds is an asshole. that is why the media goes after him. i am actually one of the few that likes bonds. he is the best hitter i have ever seen. he can take any pitch yard at any time. sorry, i like watching home runs and he hits a ton of them. canseco was a hack compared to bonds. the juice obviously helps, but he would be a great hitter w/o the juice - just no a hr hitter.

now having said that, he's way off base with bonds. and for whatever reason, smith has a propensity for bringing in race where its clearly not applicable. thats the only thing that keeps me from agreeing with most everything he says.
