and heres why. Yea i know Wash won the week before on a fluke play but this should of never happened.

You get the ball with 1:17 left on your own 10 yd line and Ariz St only has one TO left. I was saying "Please take a knee and lets go to OT." So you run the ball the first 2 plays which really is like kneeling on the ball except you take the risk of fumbling the ball in that situation. So its 3rd and 2 and now you have your offense rush to the line of scrimmage to get the first down and throw a deep ball which is incomplete. Ariz St didnt have to use there TO and they got what they wanted which was the ball back. If you were going to pass on 3rd down why didnt you pass on 1st and 2nd down with 1:17 left to try and move the ball downfield to get into FG range. So it was like you were playing for OT the first 2 plays and the last play you were playing to move the ball down into FG range. WTF???

You punt the ball with 22 secs left and Ariz St gets the ball at midfield with 12 secs left. You know they are going deep because there FG is hurt plus when they line up the have trips to the right side. What does that tell you Steve? You have 3 TO's left why the fuk didnt you take one there. Set up your defense get them in the right spot make sure they know what defense you want. Hell i would of taken a 2nd TO just to see what kind of formation they would of came out with after the first TO. Your defensive coordinator looked like he wa son his 8th can of Red Bull so theres no way he can think of using a TO. That falls on you. What happens next? #41 jams i think its the inside WR and then for some reason he runs like hes taking a shit to the sideline. Yea i know hes going help on the outisde WR but this is my point. They didnt know what the fuk was going on and a TO should of been taken.

You didnt give your team a chance. If you would of lost in OT so be it but you never gave them a chance to win it in OT. You fuked up the last minute with clock management and you fuked up by not taking a TO and getting the defense right.
You fukin lost the game not the kids. You get paid lots of money to make those decisions fuk i can do a lot better job than that.

Ok im done venting. And yes i had Wash +6

very nice write-up. i enjoyed watching the DC yell at the cameraman to get the camera out of his face as he was talking to the player after the score. the camera was on you because of your crappy defense.

I had Arizona last week and ASU yesterday, so I feel a little vindicated after that horrible U of A beat last week. I feel for you though. I can't imagine having UW last night and losing that way. It's possible they would not have covered in OT, but they most likely would have.

The only thing I can say on the play is that I think #41 thought they were in 2 cover, when they were obviously supposed to be playing man. Holt, the DC, can't know that the player is going to screw up his assignment like that. But you're right, they could have easily taken a TO to talk things over.

Personally, I was amazed that they went deep. Even with their FG kicker being hurt, I thought they would play it safe and just try to get into reasonable FG range, then give it a shot. Most teams get ultra-conservative in situations like that.

Now matter what there is no excuse to give the ball back to the other team when there is only 1:15 left on the clock and they only have 1 time out...........

Hell........if Sarko played it right his team could have tried a hail mary with no time left on the clock..........

A good coach would had said..........either we move the ball or we go to overtime.........thats it

I was on Wash. the week before when they lucked out against Zona. That one is on Stoops though for throwing instead of trying to run out the clock.

Not that this will make anyone feel better, but Sark is getting crushed by the local media this morning. Not exactly surprising though...

Not to beat a dead horse, but here's a few answers from the pressy if you're interested:

On the TD pass at the end of the game, he said they were in a 3-deep coverage. He said they weren't expecting them to go deep, he thought they would throw a pass to get into FG range. Because of that, they were playing middle thirds and protecting against out patterns. I think that's why you see #41 run towards the sideline and leave his receiver. The safety, Williams, is the one who botched the coverage. He was supposed to pick up the receiver once #41 left him, but he never did. Sark said it wasn't a prevent, and that they had been using that coverage a lot during the game and it had been working.

As for his playcalling on the drive before that, he said his plan was to either win the game on that drive or, at worst, still have the ball at the end of the game and have it go to OT. Running the ball to just chew clock and go to OT never entered his mind. He was trying to win the game on that drive. Looking back, he wishes he had ran the ball on 3rd and 1 to pick up the first down. But if they picked up the 1st down, he was then going to throw to try and get into FG range. On the 3rd and 1 when they passed the ball, he said he thought they had a good play called for James Johnson. He honestly thought that play would get them to about midfield, and from there they would only need 1 or 2 more completions to be in FG range.

Pretty surprising that he was so confident they would get into FG range considering they started at what, their own 15?

So. Cal
another young cocky know it all head coach......who falls in line with the rest of the head coaches in this world

they work 80 hours a week, but when push comes to shove, they have no idea how to win a game/manage a clock to win/end a game.....NO IDEA.

hey, go work 180 hours next week, you'll still be a shit for brains when it comes to those end-of-game situations.

the funny thing is.....asu not only had one guy wide open on that play, THEY HAD TWO GUYS WIDE OPEN ON THAT PLAY.......there was nobody covering the other wr running the same route about 10 yards away from mcgahee.

after last week, that loss couldnt have happened to a bigger bunch of pricks than sark and holt...too bad it had to be asu that was on the winning end!

The thing is if he runs on 3rd and 1 and doesnt make it Ariz St will use there timeout and Wash has to punt. After the 2nd play wa sover he didnt have to snap it again he could of just let the time run out unless Ariz St called a TO. He should of just took a knee on 1st down and gone into OT.

he was so confident on the 3rd down play and so confident that he would get into FG range starting from his 15. He fuked the whole situation up.

Bad clock management and not taking a TO to set the defense up is inexcuseable.

You're right, on all accounts. The impression I got is that it never occurred to him that they wouldn't get the 1st down. I know that sounds crazy, but in the press conference he said he never really thought about not making it. In his mind they were either going to score, or they would have the ball last and the game would go into OT. He obviously didn't think things through very well.

Why are Sark and Holt pricks, because U of A choked away a 12 point lead with 4 minutes to play? So you would have no problem with Stanford fans calling Stoops and Co. pricks after this Saturday's game, right?

You talk about bad coaching, you don't think Stoops and his staff could be cited for that in the UW game? After they got up 12 the defense essentially laid down on the next series. UW went 60 yards in what, 1:10? The personal foul call by that idiot who leveled the WR about 3 seconds after he dropped the ball wasn't too smart, either.

You talk about being able to win a game down the stretch, managing the game, managing the clock... U of A didn't do a very good job of that in the UW game. Even after the quick TD by UW, they had a 5-point lead, with the ball around their own 40, and a little less than 3 to play. So what do they do? Throw on 1st down. Of course the pick 6 was a huge fluke, but you have to question the pass call. Initially I supported it, because they were throwing all night on that shitty secondary, but in hindsight it probably would have been better to run the ball and chew clock.

And FWIW, I'm not saying all this because UW is my school. I talk as much shit about them as anyone, when it's warranted. I'm not a homer. More than anything, I'm still pissed because I had U of A -4 for the game. For them to lose that game was embarrassing, IMO.

Ok, I just reread that post and I didn't mean for it to come off as harsh as it probably does. That wasn't my intent. I just don't know why you would call the UW coaching staff pricks for U of A bungling that game in Seattle. Personally, I would be livid with my team, and nobody else. I could understand if they were talking trash or something, but as far as I know they didn't. In fact, I heard Holt and Sark both admit they got very lucky on that play.

I know I was seeing red for about 3 days after UW blew that game in ND. Well, it was a combo of UW and the refs who blew 2 calls that resulted in an overturned TD by UW and a 2-point conversion for ND where the guy's knee touched at the 2. But anyway, I was pissed as hell at the players, the coaches, etc., but I would never say Charlie Weis was a prick because my team blew the game.

Like I said, didn't mean for my first post to sound that harsh. Didn't mean any offense.

So. Cal
actually i read the complete opposite

sark said they weren't lucky to beat arizona.....umm and incomplete pass that hits the ground and gets returned for a td after you got your ass kicked for 57 mins with help from arizona imploding in the red zone and three horrible calls by the refs/replay booth???

yes, those guys are pricks

holt is the worst of the bunch......and absolute roid raging ass.....go coach your fuking defense BEFORE the play and stop yelling and cussing out a camera man AFTER that a play when defense blows a games to a shitty asu team.
