sac bee reports "In a not-so-stunning announcement, a Phil Jackson statement fell on deaf ears at the Kings' practice facility Saturday.

"If we don't win this ballgame on Sunday, it's going to be difficult for us to win the Pacific Division," the Los Angeles Lakers' coach said after a 94-82 victory over visiting Detroit on Friday night. "We play a lot of playoff-bound teams in the next three weeks. We're going to have to get this game and hopefully get some help along the way to make a run."

Responded Kings coach Rick Adelman: "Really, well. He obviously knows a lot more than everybody else, me included. Hopefully, that's the case. You know, if they lose (today), we're done? That's good to know, because we can rest guys and get Peja back."

Peja Stojakovic's strained right hamstring will force him to the bench for the second straight game. Adelman said he expected Doug Christie, who has a bruised right knee, to play, although Christie did not practice Saturday."
