alright, some of you may laugh and think there are a number of clear cut winners on the week 1 card, but i disagree.

I am in a survivor contest, and in week 1 already cannot put a sure winner out there.

right now i am lookin at 2 hard.

CLEV BROWNS

or

KC CHIEFS

I think both these teams win, but then find reasons to second guess myself.

would appreciate any input on what you guys think is the best choice for week 1

cannot reuse a team and do not wanna lose the first week.

i usually have a couple each week i find i love, but man week 1 for me is tough.

I like CLE out of the two......

Yeah..this Week 1 is tough. I don't like the fact that the lines have been out since April and so much movement in like 5-6 months. Arizona opened -3 and is now -7. Week 2 and on the lines will be more accurate.

I would not play KC. Buffalo went there last year in week 8 and lost by just 3 points. It looks like Cassel will miss week 1 so QB will be a big question mark and the Bills only strength on defense last year was a 3rd ranked pass defense. I would expect a healthy dose of J. Charles given the Bills shitty run defense (32nd) but I could see Buffalo pulling out a win in this spot.

Consider Green Bay as a survivor pick

The only reason not to take Houston is that youre sandbagging and trying to 'save them' for later on in the season.

You're assuming Houston is 'a good team'. This is more of a play against a Manning-less road team. Just my thoughts but I don't think they will make the playoffs so there are a minimum of 10 better teams in the NFL to use later.

But then different strategies are why survivor pools are so cool .

Houston would win this game even with Manning playing. They always play the Colts tough in Houston and beat them last year without a defense.

appreciate all the feedback fellas....

hearin all this makes it tougher possibly cause everyone brings up good points for and against each team...

i am thinkking cleveland is best spot. they play balty and pitt twice and couple others in there that are tough, and i dont wanna be stuck with em any of those weeks.

anyone out there see anyway possible that cincy can win?

Its a rivalry game so anything is possible but Cleveland should win. I also think SanDiego wins in week 1. They have a healthy Vincent Jackson and a couple nice additions on defense with Takeo Spikes and Bob Sanders. The Vikings will always be competitive when you have a guy like A.P. and a good leader in McNabb at QB but i think it will take a few weeks for them to click, also factor in there travel out west.

SanDiego
GreenBay
Cleveland

All are realistic options in my opinion and for week 1 I dont think you try to get fancy, theres enough good teams that if you use one up in week 1 you will still have good options down the road...Just Survive!

Cleve doesn't like to play their own divison in this range....since 2003 if Cleve is playing their Div and the line is 3 to 6.5 they are 6/18 ATS and 4/20 SU and you thought the Bungles were bad.......if the Bungles are the team they are playing in this situation Cleve has gone 3/5 ATS and 1/7 SU....with the average game an 8.2 point loss.........the last time they defeated the Bungles SU in this situation was in 2004

KC doesn't like to entertain Conf teams at home...since 2007 they have gone 7/18 ATS and 8/17 SU....having a good year last year they won three SD..Jax..and Tenn....... if they are favored in these games they are worse 2/10 ATS and 4/8 SU with 2 wins last year Jax andTenn

I def understand using trends, but this is a little different from other years. Cleve has basically sucked other than the one year w/ Anderson-Edwards since they moved to Cleve. They have a better offense and def than Cincy. Cincy throwing out a rookie in the Dawg Pound. Colt has been on fire this preseason and has earned the trust of his teammates. Brengals will be lucky to win 3 games this year and this won't be one. Not sure if they cover the spread but Cleve will win.

Houston would be my strongest pick though for obvious reasons.

totally agree here, kc has looked like dog shit and it is hard to just turn it on. I kept hearing training camp was a joke, a lot like Wade Phillips and camp cupcake. And we all know how that ended. Uninspired, undisciplined, and losing football. Wouldn't touch KC.
