I used to officiate college ball (a few years ago), and did so for years, but I've never seen the situation that just occurred in the game...

If you didn't see it, the Cuse player was going up for a shot with less than a second on the shot clock. He was fouled as he was going up for the shot, BEFORE the shot clock went to 0. But he RELEASED the shot AFTER the shot clock went to 0 - and the ball went in.

The ref's waived off both the foul and the made basket, calling it a shot clock violation.

I don't think that was the right call. I agree the shot shouldn't have counted. And the foul that occured before the shot clock expired was still a foul. He was trying to shoot and got foulded before the violation.

My opinion is that this should have been a shooting foul (as he clearly was trying to shoot) and the foul did occur before the violation.

He should have been shooting 2 shots, and the basket that he made not counted. That's my opinion.

This could be a big deal if the game stays close to the end.

What do you guys think on this one?

100 agree, he didnt get the shot off, but he was fouled, which inhibited him from getting the shot off, the foul created a pause in the release, very awful call.
