A few years back, OK, quite a few years back, in 1997 the Twins were not having a very good Summer. Beginning August 9th, thru the 25th, they ran off a string where they won 2 of 19 games. They dropped 3, won 1 and had lost another 5 in a row when a buddy of mine called me with a great idea. He said that he was going to bet on the Twins because they couldn't lose 6 in a row because (Ready for this YYZ?) They were "due" to win. They lost game 6. He said, no problem, "I'll just double up on game 7. They lost game 7. My buddy was determined not to get beat, plus he had it all figured out. He would just keep doubling up until they won, especially since they were "due" to win and they couldn't lose 8 in a row. Well they did lose 8 in a row and 9 and 10...they did finally win after 10 straight losses, only to lose the next 4 straight. My buddy lost his ass and half of his wife's during that streak.
The lesson I learned from that situation is to ALWAYS bet "with" the streak. You can only lose once betting with it, yet an indeterminable number going against it.
If you haven't fingered out where I am going with this just yet, I'll make it clear.
I'm all over the Tribe today. And maybe again tomorrow, and the next day as well, but we'll start with this game that gets under way at 7:10 this evening.
Let's go Tribe!
