Haven't been posting plays for a while, but been playing and doing pretty well, so I'll throw this one out there for you all..... play it if you wish....

Marlins RL +150 - Olsen vs. Maholm

Olsen's numbers are very deceiving if looking at his season stats - look at his last 10 starts and you'll see he has been outstanding. And they would have been even better, except some of the inherited runners were allowed to score by the bullpen.

Maholm has been basically terrible all year. He'll have some outings where he pitches OK, but then he'll self destruct in one inning, leading to his demise.

Both offenses here are similiiar - in fact, I do prefer FLA, as they have difference makers in Ramirez, Jacobs (who may nor not play against the lefty Maholm), Cabrera, and Uggla.

Pitt has Jason Bay who always scares me, but I still like FLA offense much better.

Of course, nothing is a lock, but I love this matchup - BIG edge in pitching with FLA, and I think they score enough against Maholm to make the RL a great play.

In Olsen's last 10 starts, he has an ERA of 2.89, averaging just over 6 innings per start. In those starts, he has allowed only 67 baserunners (hits and walks) in 62 1/3 innings.

Contrast that to Maholm's last 10 starts: An era of 5.72 in 56 2/3 innings, with a whopping 105 runners allowed. With that on base rate, he is very lucky that ERA has not been over 7.00 for that period.

My only concern is that Florida's young lineup might not be patient enough to allow Maholm to get himself in trouble, as he typically does.

However, given the great price, I feel this is a very strong play. It is surprising that Olsen wasn't a bigger favorite - but being a rookie with so so overall numbers, the betting public has not seemed to pick up on him yet.

Prediction: Marlins win 6-3.

Good luck to me and all who decide to follow this play....

Cha Ching!

Cha Ching!

Hopefully some of you followed........ Nice +150 winner tonite...

Like I said, Olsen is a stud... he dominated the game, although I'll admit the Marlins did not hit Maholm as well as I would have thought...

But a win is a win - and run line wins are tough to come by...
