Subaru SVX question

Anyone here ever own one of these or know someone that has? Any good /bad points to it?

My brother in law is looking to buy a 94 with 70000 miles on it. Price is $3600 firm. Ive checked kelly blue book and its below the private party value. Its a 2WD not AWD. Its from the original owner who takes real good care of his stuff.

Ive checked out different web sites (they actually have them dedicated to this car) and the most I can find out abvout the major bad points is a weak transmission and kinda expensive replacement parts. There were 14000 sold in the US from 92-97. A majority of them were AWD. No web site says if the trans problem was with the AWD or 2WD models.

The thing that surprised me about the specs is the top speed. Weighing in at 3400lbs its 142mph out of a 6 cylinder. :scared

What Im looking for is some personnal thoughts from anyone that has actually owned one.

The 2WD model was produced from 94-95 and the 4WD model was produced from 92-97, so the model is most likely a 4WD. I seem them around every now and then. I wasn't too fond of the styling. Ask your brother if he as ever driven one. If not, tell him to test drive before buying and try taking it around a drive thru window. :grins:


I forgot to add. You might try other forums for help. You could try subdriven.com. That's a sister site of a forum that I'm a member of. :)

How'd the speed treat you?? They're not quite as worked over here fresh off the market as much as Australia I don't think, but they should still have some serious kick when you put your foot down! Agree that the interior isn't great!
