LSU can easily defeat the Sooners on 1/4/04. I will play the ML and take the points unless something crazy happens during my investigation of the Sooners. I have said all along that the Sooners are not invincible, just like Miami was not invincible last year and so on and so forth.
LSU playing great football and I would rather play USC because they deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl more than OU. That being said, I feel that the 2 best coaches in the nation are competing against each other with 3 weeks to scheme and prepare. I expect a defensive game.
Our D line is unbelievable. These guys avg 6'4 297lbs and can run. SS Hunt is a coach on the field with sprinter speed, he will be sorely missed next season. Frosh FS L Landry is hyper- athletic and strong for a safety. CBs Corey Webster and Trav Daniels are great cover corners(ask Fred Gibson and Brown), with Webster(a thorpe Finalist) leading the way. Nickelback Randall Gay started at CB last season. He rounds out the LSU secondary quite nicely with coverage skill. If LSU gets up on anybody they will win the game. Have proved it all year long. When the D line pins their ears back because a team has to pass the game is essentially over.
OU can be run on and LSU is just the squad to do it with their 4 complimentary RBs including Power and Speed himself, Justin Vincent. The LSU O line is dominating the opposition. Michael Clayton is as good a receiver as you will find, he is also a GREAT downfield blocker who leads to many long TD runs for the Tiger Offense. Matt Mauck not playing his best ball in SEC Championship, including 2 or 3 horrible throws to open receivers. With the prep time involved Mauck should be ready.
Early prediction
LSU 20 OU 10
