KC pk -105 x2
The Raiders are 9-1 in their last 10 home openers, including a string of seven consecutive victories. However, the Chiefs were responsible for that lone loss, a 28-27 Monday Night Football triumph at Oakland (9/8/97).
The Chiefs have won their initial road game of the year three of the past four seasons. Dating back to ?95, the first game of the annual Chiefs-Raiders seasonal series has been held in Oakland just four times and KC has won all four of those games (?97, ?99, 2003 and 2004). The Chiefs are 4-1 in prime time games vs. Oakland over the past decade, going 2-0 on Sunday nights and 2-1 on Monday nights.
Both team's secondaries look pitiful in what is expected to be a high scoring game. I'm hoping the Chiefs defensive line speed will make the difference in this homer play and a little better mix on offense.
The injury update looks better for the Chiefs. Ryan Sims (DT) will be missed just when it looked like he was finally going to earn his keep. Look for alot of 3/4 defense from the Chiefs.
Giving the Raiders 10 days to prepare and maybe watch all those Jets dropped passes Sunday is a concern.
With both Superbowl particpants on deck for the Chiefs, they sorely need this road win to keep from getting buried in the loss column in the first quarter of the season.
gl! More later in the week.
