UCLA loss was a poor job on my part.Johnnies came out smoking and UCLA looked like they left their game somewhere over Kansas on the cross country flight.
But did win almost all my other plays.
won with Illi Chi,Miss St,La-Laf,St Joes,Wichita st,Air Force,Columbia,and Depaul.Pushed on Cornell -6 with 4 boxes but played another 2 boxes at -7 to lose.
So decent day at 8-1.
Niagara pk over Iona
Niagara almost beat Manhattan friday nite.Flores scores half of MC's pts.Niagara is so hard to read and capp.They rank 6th in the nation in scoring [82.pts]and 283rd in defense.But in the Rider game last week Mihalich took all 5 starters out and benched them.Thier defense has folded up in the 2nd halves of their past few games.He got tired of and benched the whole crew.Dardan argued with coach in front of everyone.but coach won and Dardan sat his ass out.
Anyway NU has done nothing but worked on their defense.
Today they play one of the most inconsistent teams in the MAAC.
They blow Manhattan out last week and just squeeze by[almost] last place Canisius.
Iona is loaded with talent.Despite losing Smith their best all around player they have gds that can play,Jenkins inside and frosh Bruin playing good.
But I think Mihalich's wake up call maybe has shaken them up a little.They played good vs Manhattan friday nite.
Reaves has been playing good.Cruz still leads the MAAC in assits.Mendez inside should eat Jenkins for lunch.DeShawn can explode for Iona.
But Iona on defense is suspect.They shut down Flores in the MC win.If flores is stopped MC grinds to a halt.Purple have 5 or 6 weapons.Dardan is a 6'4 gd that can play.And by the way.he was pissed being benched because he was the only one playing defense.He'll take DeShawn today.
NU has had bad "karma" at Iona.In their last 4 games there they have lost by 16,1,10 and 14.
But with Iona shooting only 66% from the FT line and NU 10 pts higher I'll take the Purple.two weeks ago Niagara beat Iona 105-87.
Seton Hall +7 over Prov
Have to tread very lightly on this game. Two weeks ago Prov beat the Hall 63-60.Orr's game plan was double up on Gomes inside and it almost worked.problem was Douthit was open and had a big game 14 pts 9 bds.They also shot 6-21 from the 3 pt line.Prov is loaded with talent but so is the Hall.
Two pretty even teams.Prov plays that 2-3 and in their last game the hall shot 4-19 from the 3 and that was at home.
But the Hall just played the Cuse last week so they are ready for the 2-3.So in 2 of their next 3 games they went against the zone.I think that helps them a little.Whitney inside needs help.The problem with the Hall is that their fds aren't at their best vs power guys like Prov has.Hall are more athletic but slimmer.Toney-el,Sweet,etc are all 6'6 greyhounds.
Barrett and Allen and Morris are solid at the gds.Barrett needs to play big today.He alone can make up for the prov inside advantage.
I'm taking the 7 pts.I see this as a close game.Unless Kabba gets into one of those streaks I'll take my chances with the hall.They do have guys that can knock down the 3.Allen,Sweets,Morris,Barrett,Toney-el.But Fray and Billmeir will have to play some to help Whitney.
Mahanttan -16 over Canisius Griffs have ben plating better only losing to Iona by a few. They lost to siena by 4 and beat Loy-md and marist.Spruill came back so that helps inside.But they are still the worst Ft shooting in the country 61%. And they will get nothing but pressure defense and Flores all day.
Griffs have lost to the jaspers in Draddy the past yrs by 18,14,20,22,34,and 33.
Bobby G's team got blown away by Iona and just beat niagara by a couple this week.What better way to untrack your team.Think the Griffs are in trouble.

But today if Chris DiMarco can hang on and win the FBR Open golf tourney the "box' can put a down payment on something in the Grand Caymons The odds are +3000.
So the hell with Brady and the the super Bowl. Go Chris.....
