simply going with the better teams? don't see how atl is the better team. when have they been the better team this year? atl has a quick defense and can run the ball but the eagles have shut down the run since trotter joined the starting line up. yeah week 16 and 17 they gave up a lot of the yards but the back ups were in. you can take atl and say they're gonna win but don't say they're the better team because they are not. jim johnson will develop a sound way to shut down vick like he did the last time in the playoffs. maybe dunn will get another -2 yds rushing like he did in the playoffs against the eagles a few years back. "i don't want to sign and play in philadelphia because its too cold there" -warrick dunn

I've been studying that stat carefully that the Eagles have shut down the run since after the Pitt game when Trotter joined the starting lineup. Obviously, the key to the game is whether or not the Eagles can stop Duckett and Dunn, even more so than Vick. In that stretch in the 2nd half they played the Cowboys twice (George started one game) and Redskins twice. Also in that stretch they had huge leads after the first half. These factors are another reason besides Trotter that the run defense numbers looked good. Remember that Redskins and Cowboys have poor QB play, but you could argue that the Falcons do too with Vick and his WRs not being very effective. With that said, I still lean towards the points because I believe Eagles will struggle to score as well.

HEY! SAY WHAT THINK! IF YOU THINK PHILLY, THEN BET THEM! I PERSONALLY THINK ATLANTA IS BETTER.. BOTH TEAMS CAN PLAY DEFENSE, BOTH TEAMS CAN'T REALLY PASS EFFECTIVELY ENOUGH, BOTH HAVE GOOD RUNNING GAMES, THE KEYS HERE TO ME ARE THAT PHILY DOESN'T HAVE OWENS AND ATL HAS VICK!! VICK WILL BE THE BIG DIFFERENCE WITH HIS RUNNING..
JUST LOOK AT THE LINE??? PHILLY IS ONLY FAVORED BY 4 1/2.. THATS WITH HOME FIELD AND 3 TIMES IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, UNDER THEIR BELT..DOESN'T SEEM TO ME THE LINES MAKERS, HAVE MUCH FATE IN PHILLY??? THINK ABOUT IT!!!!
GOOD LUCK ON WHO EVER YOU THINK IS BETTER? I LIKE ATLANTA..

If you really think the Eagles are a run oriented offense then I suggest you re-evalute this game. Not saying Atlanta is necessarily the wrong side here but I think you should look more at the Eagle team if you think they are a running offense.

no, i didn't say that philly isn't more pass oriented, but WITHOUT owens there passing game isn't nearly the same..that is why i like atlanta!! and with atlanta's blitzing defense, mcnabb will not have the luxury to look down field, for the open reciever.. if atlanta can contain both mcnabb and westbrook, philly has nothing! on the other side atlanta will not run for 300 yards against this philly defense, like they did against the rams. philly knows its first priorty is stop the run. but if vick can roll out, and philly over presues both the run and vick, it could open-up vick getting lucky and hitting a couple of long passes, with the one on one coverage . advantage to atlanta's offense..?

I'm not just picking on you, because I've seen a lot of people saying this, but what is this based on? The passing game looked pretty good last weekend, and that's the only game they've played without TO. Obviously the loss hurts, but I do think it's a bit overblown.

This is a concern. Trotter does play with a downhill mentality and somewhat of a reckless abandon, which could open up a running lane for Vick if he overpursues. As for rolling out, I think a combination of Kearse and Ike Reese will keep containment. If that leads to a one on one matchup of the Atlanta WR's vs the Eagles Pro Bowl secondary, I'll take my chances. If the wind hits 30 mph like forcasted this will be a moot point because I don't see many long passes from either team. In this case I look for Crumbler to have an even larger role, which is something that I don't like. If the concentration of containing Vick and our secondary spread thin, the TE might have some nice spots in the middle of the field.

Best of luck, obviously I'm biased and hope the Eagles roll, but it's been fun going back and forth a bit. You're last post made some real sense.

As for the New England play I hope you knock them dead.

nyr,
Actually I am from Philly, moved to De (no sales tax) Even without TO, philly's passing attack is better than Atl. Atl. has the better runninig attack, but I think those numbers are skewed bc of vick's rushing avg. The line is climbing and is out 5.5 in some spots..Before this line came out, I thought the line should be around 6 6.5 and I think you should wait to grab atl at 6 because it gonna suck when philly wins by 7. You said in your post that if atl contains mcnabb and westbrook, then they have nothing. Well if phl contains vick, atl has nothing. I will take my chances with Jonhnson's d against vick anyday. Do you honestly think that At is the better team? If you do, so be it.

Atlanta wins the game on the field with the better defense and the better running game. You can't coach speed.

Better running game I give you, better I defense I think your wrong..Speed can get neutralized on a cold, slick field, don't forget this is not in the dome where Vick can make cut back and forth like a video game.

maybe! lets put it this way.. atlanta defense wont hurt them, yes philly is good and maybe better, but atlanta blitzing style and speed, i think matches up good against philly's offense.. game really may just come down to turn overs???
i just think atlanta has a slight advantage, only because owens is out! if he were playing, i probaby would be betting philly, but line would be much higher, 6 1/2 maybe 8, in my opinion!
I liked philly all year and still think there good, BUT THERE BEST PLAYER IS HURT! OWENS! remember, philly went out to get him, to put them over the top, well he did make them much better!! he could have been mvp, if he stayed healty?? but without him, it makes philly's offense very averave at best..??? I'LL TAKE THE POINTS!
