Today is where we will see the men seperated from the boys in the coaching ranks. There are some really good ones in today's battles for a birth in the SWEET 16! The talent difference within the coaches has to be measured just as it is with all great leaders. The success determinator has to be the LEVEL at which "the leader" sets expectations. What is "their ultimate goal to be achieved right here right now that will lead us to sit atop.....safely.....smiling because we are champions!"
I want to share the BEST example that I can think of in the years that I have been alive. The leader's name is George W. Bush. From day one his expectations for himself was not to be the Governor of the Great Sate of Texas (a very well respected title when you talk about the ranks of leaders)! No, his goal was much higher then that. He had his sights set on becoming the leader of the most valuable gem on earth (The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA). Now that we the people had faith in this man to lead US ALL, allow him to do what he's good at........LEADING! This job is not easy as he is required to make decisions that will have livelihood impact on the "right here, right now" but most importantly the future. This man has a deep passion for our people and he will do whatever it takes to make sure that we, AND OUR CHILDREN right here right now are safe, while also insuring that their futures will be at a minimum equal to the lives that we have been so fortante to have already lived to this day. Many men and women "signed up to defend this great country," these soldiers are the real players in todays game. George W. is the real leader, and The UNITED STATES OF AMERICA will be sitting on top in the end.......safely........anyone who wants to come better jump on the train baby!!!!
On a much less grander stage, I will look at those leaders in the college hoop ranks challenge to sit on top! Here are the ones IMO that know they have something great, believe in what they have and will do everything to make their players believe in themselves the way he does. These coaches (leaders) will make sure that they do everything to motivate their men to give every little ounce of effort that each one of them has to WIN! Which one of these guys will be on top, which one will shift the focus to the right here, right now to get the future.....on top! Eddie Sutton is one. He's up against another good one in Boeheim which is why I stayed away from this one. Maryland has one, hell he proved it as early as just last year.....Xavier has more talent on their team, but if I were going to play this one I would choose to side with Gary Williams coming out victorious. I would also have take Barnes and his Texas team over Gene Keady and his Boilermakers. Majerus is definately comparable if not a shade better then Tubby in coaching......but LEADING this year he doesn't hold a candle......Nor does he have half the talent that the Wildcats possess......These Wildcats are playing with every ounce of effort they have.....they are also getting very proficient doing it together as well.....signs of a champion! They don't lose today! I know one leader who will give it his all every night! This same guy also knows that in order to make it to the top you have to accept challenges, learn from those challenges, and get better from those experiences. He always has his teams ready for the games that if failed will result in their ultimate goal left unaccomplished......Tom Izzo is one hell of a tournament coach who gets that every ounce of his soldiers, would side with him vs a the young donovan with all those young warriors. A lot will start to be proved today; who are some of those men who possess those leadership abilities like George W. Bush does? Which conferences appear to have been the stronger? Lets Dance!
