YTD RECORD MLB: 84-65 (+10.75 UNITS)

Very busy again this coming week, so not sure how much I'll be capping and that's probably a good thing since I've been a good fade of late.

Went with one play for Sunday. The game being a Coors Field game is the only thing keeping me from making this a double play, but it does look really good.

COLORADO -128 (JENNINGS VS CLAUSSEN LISTED)

Simply put, Colorado is a decent home team but is playing a Cincy team that is horrible on the road(7-19 thru Fri), but there are also a few other key factors that I really like in this one. Let's take a look.

Colorado starter, Jason Jennings, looks like he's in the best form of the season. He's beaten Mark Mulder and Carlos Zambrano in his last 2 starts going 7 strong innings in each while only allowing 1 run in each.

Of course Jennings is a ground ball pitcher and the groundball/flyball ratio is a big thing I look at when determining how good of form a ground ball pitcher is in. According to this, Jennings is in raging form having a combined 26-10 groundball/flyball ratio in his last 2 games. It simply doesn't get any better than that and it shows that those last 2 starts weren't flukes.

Jennings has also pitched well vs Cincinnati in the past. In 4 career starts, he is 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA and has only allowed 20 hits in 26 innings vs them and when you consider that 2 of those starts were at Coors Field, those numbers are very respectable.

Brandon Claussen gets the start for Cincy and much like the Reds poor road record this season, Claussen has not impressed on the road in his young career. His career ERA on the Road of 6.15 is nearly 2 full runs higher than his career ERA at Home. In 10 career road starts, he is just 3-5 and has given up 60 hits(8 home runs) and 24 walks in just 45.1 innings. Claussen has also had the luxury of pitching at home for 4 straight starts, so I think pitching on the road in this one will be even more of a shock to his system. Throw in the fact that it's the worst pitchers park in the Majors might equal double shock~!

Can't handicap the bullpens in this one. The Colorado pen is horrible, but not sure the Reds bullpen on the road is any better, especially when pitching at Coors. I expect or at least hope that the starters hold true and you can expect a bit of a comfort zone when the relievers come in.

Good luck to all :thumb:

Well...not a pretty game to watch if you had Colorado bet, but nice to get the win. :)

Typical Coors game. Jennings had good stuff(8-4 ratio)...he made some mistakes but was also able to pitch out of some jams to keep the Rockies in it.
