If we had no winter, spring would not be so pleasant. If we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

The above quote describes my NFL gambling this season to a tee. Much money has been wagered (and lost) but as we near the change of the season (into playoff football), I believe I am ready to turn the corner.
Oakland +1
The Redskins held the ball on the Saints 4-yard line at the two minute warning, nursing a 7 point lead. For all intents and purposes this game was OVER. Yet, as we now know, the field goal was missed and the Saints needed all of :30 seconds to come back and tie the game. Now the Skins must travel across the country to play the Raiders in an ultra-meaningless affair.
Tom Cable must have been sending a message to his players when he punched out one of his assistants earlier this year. He was challenging them to play tougher, to get back to the" Raider" style of football. They have responded with wins over Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh.
The Redskins must be deflated after allowing an undefeated team off the hook like that. I just have a hard time believing that the Redskins will be able to garner motivation enough to win this game. This reminds me of the situation in 2006 when the Cardinals had the Bears on the ropes only to give away the game. The very next week they traveled to Oakland and laid down in a 22-9 loss. Trap games are very real and not only the good teams are affected by them.
