Brown led Dartmouth the entire 40 minutes but couldn't cover the six. Fortunately 2 of my 3 other Ivy plays came in. Also 2-0 on my West Coast plays (Irvine -4.5 1H and UCLA) which made my regular picks 4-1 yesterday.

Play of the Day record now: 13-14-2

Today I'm going back to the Big MAAC:

Niagara +8

Rider just won at Niagara 80-76 a week ago (1/24). While Niagara was tough on the boards, outrebounding Rider 50-36 and pulling down 22 offensive rebounds to Rider's 7; Niagara couldn't get their shots to fall.

Niagara was a horrible 29-81 (35%) from the field including 5-23 (22%) from the arc compared with their season averages of 43% and 34% respectively.

The away team has won the last three games in this match-up.

These MAAC games tend to be tight, I'll take Niagara and the 8 points in this spot.

Teddy --

Let me look into that Iona game a little closer and I'll get back to you.

But first let me sell you on Niagara.;)

Since losing to Rider, Niagara has won three straight games: at home against Siena and Iona and on the road at Fairfield.

In those 3 games, Niagara's shooting seems to have come alive. Leading scorer Daryl Greene averaged 18.3 ppg in his L3, hitting 10-24 (42%) from the arc in those games. In the two previous games, he averaged 4 points while hitting 3-22 from the field.

In the L3, as a team Niagara was 28-61 (46%) from 3 points.

Also, Niagara is 6-3 in league play in 2002; only two of those nine games were decided by more than 8 points: their most recent 84-74 win over Iona and a 98-56 blowout loss at Manhattan. Five of the nine games were decided by four points or less.

Convinced?

Superbook--you know I always read your thoughts..and appreciate your comments greatly....
here are a couple of "other " thoughts...
I like Iona today because Coach Ruland is pissed about their defensive performance vs Niagara where Niagara shot over 50% from both the three point line and the field....St Peter's is the perfect team to jump all over and gain your teams' defensive confidence back...St. Peter's has bad timing today in playing Iona @ home!
I like Marist today , they are rested, and know they can't afford a letdown...they've had more time to prepare for this game..Loyola had a "tweener game" w/ Can.
I also like Rider, Guys --Rider has won 5 in a row ...7 of last nine..
and of those 9 games...6 were on the road..They are hot and i'm going to ride the "rider" wave...would like to hear more of your thoughts.?...crib
