I have a small play on Pitt -4, and the prop Pitt wins by 7-10 points at 6-1 odds.
I posted earlier this week a prop I was going to bet, regarding superbowl TV props. The play was for the field on who wins the USA TOday Ad Meter rankings. On Thursday, I decided on a large play that covers my expectations for this prop.
Field +950 100/950
Anheuser Busch -200 200/100
Whats especially promising about my field bet is that I grabbed it at better than 9 to 1, and it has since shrunk to almost 4 to 1. That is INCREDIBLE action, or maybe someone who knows something thinks I'm on the right side. That is HUGE movement for a prop. I was telling a friend about the rather large investment on a prop, and he actually knew what I was talking about because he saw something on ESPN about the ad meter prop. Maybe the publicity spiked the odds change. Either way, it is currently +383 so nabbing it at +950 is remarkable value.
Bud light has dominated superbowl advertising since the late 90's with hilarious spots. I dont think their current campaign featuring the helmet clad stunt man is particularly promising, but Bud Light has a way of knocking our socks off every super bowl sunday, so I've hedged myself by risking enough to win my 100 back if their 7 season streak continues.
IMO, something new will grab the spotlight tomorrow. New material wins, PERIOD. Originality and surprise are crucial elements to advertising, so I'm dismissing the Burger King ads immediately. There could be a funny spot featuring the king as Tom Brady or something, but the word is out on these ads and redundant material will only impress people so much.
