Can the devil rays sweep the indians?

i don`t think so and i hope not.

2 leftys go at it on sunday.

Cliff Lee 12-4 (4.26 era)

The indians have won his last 5 starts and 7 of 8

D-Rays counter with young kid Scott Kazmir
6-8 4.22 era

last 10 games the indians are pounding leftys .354

while the D-rays are hitting 249 against leftys in there last 10

I got to figure that cliff lee can avoid the sweep at home against the d-rays.
Plus the D-rays might be looking ahead to the yankees monday,once again ,i hope. :)

with you all the way...one of my biggest plays to date...let's hope it comes through. I like the thinking on the avoid the sweep play. It has done well for me this year, especiallly with shi%&y teams.

as a tribe fan, i hope youre right. but this game really scares me. tampa is throwing their best pitcher against a guy for cleveland (lee) who, i hate to say, isnt as good as his record.

plus the tribe has been lifeless in the last 5 or 6 games.

ostensibly, their 6-game winning streak gave reason to think they were playing well, but they needed a late inning rally to beat detroit last sunday, then needed an absolute miracle 9th inning to beat kansas city, then hit grand slams on tuesday and wednesday that were basically the extent of their offensive production for 18 innings, otherwise they would have been shutdown. its embarrassing to say, but the indians SHOULD have lost 2 of 3 to kansas city. instead, the royals are so bad they gave two away and allowed cleveland to sweep them.

the indians have been terrible with men in scoring position in this series with tampa.

actually, if anyone has that stat available and would like to post it, id love to see it, even if it makes me cringe. it cant be a pretty sight.

they HAVE to find a way to win this game on sunday. theres no doubt about it. but theyve given me no reason to believe theyre worth laying that price in an attempt to do so. theyre not playing well right now, while tampa is hitting the ball very well in these first two games.

I am on the Indians as well.

But gman is right the indians are probably near the bottom of the league in BA with RISP. Its not that they dont get hits, they just dont seem to get a hit when it really counts. Hopefully this is a day where the hits come in at the right time. I couldnt find the stat for recent games but I found a stat from the All Start Break until Jul 28, and the Indians were batting .183 with RISP since the all star break

cant even begin to put into words how pathetic the tribe was this weekend. was there for all 3 games and putting eye drops full of hot sauce on my eyes would have been easier on my vision than watching the indians try and hit with runners in scoring position.
