5* Dodgers +140
**SUPER SELECTION**
The Dodgers' Brad Penny hasn't picked up many wins this year, but he's been the Dodgers' most effective starter. He yielded only one run in seven innings in his last start and has allowed three runs or fewer in 10 of his last 11 outings.
The Dodgers committed four errors Saturday in a 5-1 loss to the Mets, who got back-to-back homers from Ramon Castro and Gerald Williams in the second inning. With Penny on the hill this will not happen today!

5* Astros -150
Houston rookie right-hander Ezequiel Astacio gets the call as the Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates meet for the rubber match of their three-game series Sunday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
Astacio, obtained from Philadelphia before the 2004 season in the trade that sent Billy Wagner to the Phillies, is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in five home appearances for the NL Wild Card-leading Astros, though he's 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA over his last four starts overall.

5* Braves Under 9
Hampton has had strong starts this season, it has still been an on-and-off year for him. On and off the disabled list that is. The left-hander went on the DL on May 15 with an arm injury, and then came off on May 31. He was on it again one day later, and came back off on July 16, two days before going right back on. Fresh off this last stint on the DL, Hampton looks for only his fifth win of the season. His last win came at Turner Field in a 16-0 blowout of the Astros on May 8. In four starts at home this season, Hampton is 3-1 with a 2.27 ERA.
To counter Atlanta's left-hander, the Diamondbacks will send righty Javier Vazquez to the mound. In two starts this month, Vazquez is 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA. He is 3-5 on the road this season.
These two pitchers equal UNDER 9!!!

**ATLANTA -130 Over Arizona (1:05 Eastern)
While Mike Hampton has had a rough go of it lately in losses to the Mets and Nationals, he's been very good overall with a 2.51 season ERA (2.27 at home). He's 14-2 in second-half season play the past two years and 22-2 at home on Sundays. His counterpart, Javier Vasquez has also struggled of late, coming out on the wrong side of 0-5 and 0-7 losses to Florida and Houston respectively. Vazquez is 4-16 vs. teams outscoring opp by 0.5 or more runs/game in the second half of the season since 1997. There's a big difference on offense here as well as we have a .036 difference in batting average here with the D-Backs on the road vs. Braves at home. Atlanta is 33-14 as a favorite and 38-18 at home this season. They are also 23-3 at home when the total is between 8.5 and 10. Two stars on Atlanta.

*FLORIDA -240 over San Francisco (1:05 Eastern)
Both of these teams have each scored a total of two runs so far in this series. Who's going to break out of their offensive slump today? Not the Bonds-less Giants facing AJ Burnett. Burnett's numbers are just sick: 2.56 ERA at home this season and 1.14 over his last three starts. In those three starts he's gone 7.9 innings per. To make matters worse, San Francisco has scored 2.6 runs per game over their last seven. While Florida's had their problems lately it's San Francisco that's in trouble today. The following stat tells the story in regards to Burnett vs. a severely struggling team. Big road underdogs of +150 or more with poor power (<0.9 HR's/game) and off 4 straight games where they stranded 7 or less runners on base are just 7-57 (11%) since 1997 when facing a starting pitcher who gives up 0.5 or less HR's/start. Florida takes this one. One star on the Marlins.

*BOSTON -142 over Chicago White Sox (2:05 Eastern)

We've been all over Boston on this incredible run and we're not going to stop now. They've now won 14 of 16 and 13 straight at Fenway. They are scoring about 10 runs per game in their last seven at home. Chicago will try to avoid only their second sweep of the season with Orlando Hernandez. Hernandez has done well on the road (3.72 road ERA) but right now it doesn't matter if Cy Young was pitching. Boston's offense is on a tear while Chicago's has cooled (3.6 runs per game in last seven). Boston gets the sweep here. One star on the Sawx.

*****LA ANAHEIM -150 over Seattle (4:05 Eastern)

When a 58% team has won two straight against a 43% team, you might be fearful of the better team letting up a little in the third game. Shouldn't happen here as Anaheim has plenty of pressure from AL West opponents to keep winning if they want to see the playoffs. Seattle's lost eight of their last twelve and are playing their worst baseball of the season. John Lackey gets the call for Anaheim. He's got a 3.36 road ERA and has pitched lights-out his last three starts allowing just 2 earned runs in those games! Who did he face? Some pretty damn good offensive teams in Oakland, Baltimore and Toronto. He's 6-1 on the road for the season. His counterpart Gil Meche, in contrast, has gotten shellacked in his last three starts, giving up 14 earned runs in just 12.7 innings. In their last seven games, Seattle's scored just 2.4 runs per contest on .212 hitting. Over the same span, Anaheim's socred 6.9 per game on .299 hitting. Hmmmm. Seattle's just 4-13 this season at home vs. division opponents while Anaheim is 18-4 on the road vs. losing teams since the All-Star break over the past two seasons. Sunday home underdogs that are ice cold batting .225 or worse over their last 10 games are just 11-47 (19%) over the last 5 seasons. Five stars on the Angels who are motived, a better team and are hot
