A good Saturday. Let's look at two more for today:
Today:
7X-- PITTSBURGH PIRATES +110
I was very surprised when I saw this line. It was a good surprise because I like playing the dogs and would think that most of the public would like the favorite immediately in this match-up. Pittsburgh hosts the Rockies in the finale of the only National League series of the weekend. The teams have split the first two of three. Today, the Pirates will try to salvage the series. Pittsburgh sends Jeff Suppan to the hill. Suppan enters 5-7 YTD with a 4.15 ERA in 15 starts and 93.1 IP. Suppan has relished his role in Pittsburgh and his record reflects a picture of a pitcher with zero run support. Suppan started the season with three straight victories. Suppan had a new lease on life this season with the Pirates. Since then, his line-ups have sat around and watched him perform. Suppan has kept his team competitive in almost every start. He has pitched very well at home. Suppan enters 3-2 @ home with 3 "no decisions". I expect to see another solid outing today. Suppan is very familiar with the dog role in Pitt. He has started 11 of his 15 games in this position this year. On the other side, Colorado enters with some unbelievable numbers that make me unsure of their favorite title here today. Starter, Shawn Chacon has had a great season. He brings in a super 11-3 record YTD with a 3.91 ERA. However, Chacon has never faired well on the road. Moreover, he has been horrible against today's opponent. Chacon enters 0-3 in his career when starting against Pittsburgh with an outrageous ERA of 8.10 and a WHIP of 2.026. This does not bowed well for Chacon. His teams numbers for today's situation are just as bad. Colorado enters today 12-27 YTD on the road for -12.4 units, they are also 70-131 L3Y on the road for -50.2 units and 207-317 since 1997 for -77.7 units. Pittsburgh has held serve in this series going 6-3 in Pittsburgh vs. the Rocks the L3Y. Look for Colorado's road struggles to remain a constant for them today and the Pirates should win the series.
2X-- BALTIMORE ORIOLES +150
Good Luck.
