The excuse coming out of Ctwon all week has been that opponets are sitting in a Cover 2 defense and causing the Browns matchup problems on offense and taking away Holcomb's long game, but this excuse is quite lame. Anyone that has Madden football can see by playing the computer how easy a Cover 2 defense can be abused, so I don't fall for that excuse one bit. The reality is that the offensive line is below average and Holcomb now has the pressure on his shoulders as the starter, some guys are amazing back-ups at QB because they can come in loose and if they don't succeed so be it and I think Holcomb fit's into this category. Let's face it, the Browns have a overrated defensive line, a weak linebacker corp and a secondary that can't tackle, so why take the Browns in this spot? Butch Davis has the philosphy of keep the game close and play for the field goal atthe end of the game, I think Holcomb will fare a little better and the Browns running game will keep the clock moving, won't go as far as calling for a outright but it wouldn't shock me if this game was decided late in the 4th. This game is a big one for Holcomb. if he struggles today then I seriously doubt Davis can keep his 6 million dollar man (Couch) on the sidelines any longer.
