Posting these early as I'm driving out to see the Notre Dame game tomorrow.

New Orleans +7 over ST. LOUIS -118
$118 to win $100

Predicting the outcome of this one is like guessing which car will be eliminated first in a demolition derby. Both teams make far too many mistakes but the advantage with the underdog here is the seven points being offered. Wouldn’t surprise anyone to see the goofy Saints upset the even goofier Rams. New Orleans’ pass rush is the more formidable and that should force an unreliable Marc Bulger into his usual array of errors. Rams are a .500 football team at best and this enemy always gives this host fits. New Orleans is a good football team as far as talent goes and should they bring any kind of intensity into this one then the Rammies are in for a true battle and a close game. I'm rolling the bones on the dog here with great confidence because in the world of the NFL, when a team appears down and out that’s when they become very dangerous. Like the Saints straight up but will gladly accept the points.

Houston +7.5 over KANSAS CITY -112
$112 to win $100

Oddly enough, the week's only duel of winless teams with K.C. the most surprising/disappointing of the seven 0-2ers league-wide The bloom is quickly coming off of the Chiefs’ rose and rightfully so. Considered to be serious contenders in the AFC, Kansas City is suddenly 0-2 and desperately seeking a win. The Chiefs, who are likely to be without star RB Preist Holmes, are void of a downfield threat and their defense couldn’t stop a high school team. Additionally, Trent Greene has gone Rich Gannon meaning he has looked horrible thus far. Not exactly the best scenario to be spotting more than a converted touchdown. Houston keeps shooting themselves in the foot but they have out-gained both opponents and only errors have detained them from the win column. Chiefs are not worthy of this billing right now.

San Francisco +10.5 over SEATTLE -112
$112 to win $100

Seahawks off to tremendous start with two road wins and they should be ecstatic for home opener. Best be careful though as they may be overconfident facing the 0-2 Niners. San Fran could easily be 2-0 if not for some youthful mistakes and some questionable officiating. Seattle's defense is preparing for a San Francisco team that has out-gained both of its first two opponents and played outstanding defense in nearly every situation. The Niners' two losses are by a total of five points, both coming down to the final seconds. San Francisco lost 21-19 to the Atlanta Falcons in its opener after failing to convert a two-point conversion that would've tied the game with 40 seconds left. Last Sunday, the Niners trailed 30-27 to New Orleans after giving up a TD pass with 1:07 left in the game. San Francisco then marched down the field, but Ken Dorsey threw an interception with four seconds on the clock. Dorsey has looked good, the offense has looked good and so has the defense. What’s there not to like about taking back double digits here?

MIAMI –1 over Pittsburgh -104
$505 to win $500 TOP PLAY

Steelers guard Alan Faneca says he'd rather not play with a rookie QB, meaning Ben Roethlisberger, who replaces injured veteran Tommy Maddox. Well, boo-hoo and get in line, Al. Lots of teams have pocket anxiety. You happen to be playing one such team Sunday, with A.J. Feeley being a rook himself in terms of starting experience. Difference here is the two defenses they'll face. Miami brings enough to make trouble for a raw QB, as it did most of last week against Carson Palmer, whereas Pitt's pass-D is softer than Colin Montgomerie. In fact, the Dolphins defense may be the best the league has to offer and I have no idea how the Steelers are going to break the goal line. Dolphins hung tough with both Cinci and Tennessee and the argument that the Bengals offense was horrible doesn’t fly. Again, Miami’s defense was and is great and they should have little trouble spitting out this weak Steelers squad.

GL to all

Good Luck! I like NO & HOU and played them, but with SF in back to back ROAD games I am hard pressed to back them. Seattle home opener with their BYE on tap and Holmgren may have them up for it with an extra day or two off. I hope you are right, but hey it's only one game in an 85-100 play season right?

My son was at the MICH/ND I hate to admit it but that is one stadium I have never seen, maybe the Buckeyes will go back some day. That Irish defense looks tough what I have seen of them, any comments? How is the Trans Am doing? Can't hardly wait for the next installment of "One step at a time"

Hope this posts as volume is high today.
