Pittsburgh at Dallas (-3)

First, I can't pick my nose right now and really haven't posted that much lately either.

This is truly Pittsburgh's first real road game with BigBen (I discredited Miami). Yes, the kid looks good, but I truly believe this is a bad spot for him and the Steelers. Dallas coming off a loss and the Tuna is a little pissed. He is too good of a coach and will be able to scheme up a plan to confuse BigBen. Old rivals and big time four o'clock game probably televised throughout the country. We all know Pittsburgh is weak against the pass and Dallas has some speed at this spot. Pittsburgh traditional 3-4 will not be able to pressure Vinny against that massive line, with that being said he will be able to sit in the pocket and make his reads easily.

To the contrary. Pits only allowing 171 passing yards per game....@ 5.59 ypp, which is better than Philli (5.7), Baltimore (5.60), and worse than only Tampa (5.33) and Miami (4.55!)...and only 51% completions.

True, they haven't played any real passing teams yet...But Dallas have only scored 19 and 10 @ home to Cleveland and NYG, both worse defenses than the Steelers.

Having said that, I think you're right about it being a bad spot for Pits.

MrChristo, no harm. I like the conversation. Your comment about how Pittsburgh hasn't played a pssing team yet is so true (Oakland, Baltimore, Cleveland, Cincy, and Miami). Coach Parcells is too good not to confuse BigBen somewhat. If Pittsburgh doesn't get to Vinny, he will have a big day...trust me. I know that is probably true for all QB's, but Pittsburgh's corners are suspect at best. They have been fortunate to not play someone that will expose that. It is no different than last year, with the exception of Pittsburgh being able to run the ball and get ahead. We have all week to discuss this further. Thank you for replying.

the way to beat pittsburgh is still through their secondary. its not as bad as it was a few yrs ago, but its still bad. oakland provided the blueprint and then cleveland followed it in the playoffs when holcomb threw for 400+ yards. yet for whatever reason, when the browns play the steelers, they still think they can run the ball on them. as good as green and suggs are, pittsburgh is too dominant up front and at linebacker to run the ball. sometimes nfl coaches are just too stubborn. they think its beneath them to eschew the running game for one week and run a wide open offense. pittsburgh can be torched in the pass game but wont budge up front. hopefully testaverde and co. realize that and ultimately exploit that weakness with those good WRs theyve got.

Can Dallas take advantage tho?

Even in games this year when Vinnie has had BIG passing numbers, they have still struggled to score.

19 v. Cleve (17 really!)
21 @ Wash, but 7 from a trick play.

Point taken anyway guys....I'l be leaving this one alone now I reckon.

gman, you are definately right about NFL coaches. I know it's a tough job, but some of them do some funny things at funny times!
I nearly go the other way from your thinking tho....I get the feeling some of them feel the need to appear innovative...They get away from things that work, and try things just for the sake of it.
