Anyone who watched the Minnesota Timberwolves and their pathetic attempts at defense in Dallas would be hard pressed to take the Lobos in game three of this series. But, like Toronto over Detroit on Wednesday, the numbers tell a different story. We looked for teams in the same situation the T-Wolves find themselves in tonight. That is a team off back to back playoff losses who lost the most recent game by 12 or more points. We found that those teams were a profitable 44-26 against the spread in that target game. Now, 62.8% winners won't buy you a condo on the French Riviera but you'll be riding around in something more substantial than a Yugo if you play all the games on the angle.
We can raise the win percentage to 68.5 (24-11) by insisting that our team allowed 100 or more points in both of their previous losses and raise the mark an additional ten percentage points (15-4 for 78.9%) if we limit our plays to teams who have a WL% of at least .560.
Our angle is this: Play on any .560 or better team who is off back to back playoff losses and a loss of 12 or more points if it allowed 100 points or more in each of its two previous games.
