wow, what a shitty card. how can anyone get excited about any game today? not a single thing really stands out to me. still gotta force some plays, right? so here are some thoughts on a few games and a couple plays for one unit each.

denver/baltimore - flacco is back home, so he should be ok. both teams coming off close, big wins against physical opponents. gotta expect a bit of a letdown for both defenses. OVER 39.5, with a lean to denver, as baltimore plays at new england next week.

jax/buffalo - how are the bills favored over anybody at this point? and why is everybody on madjacks on the bills? i understand jacksonville isn't very good and should have a big letdown after their huge win over the colts. but no way can i lay points with a team coached by chan gailey. NO PLAY

st. louis/detroit - the rams are actually showing some life with bradford. the lions have put up a fight in most of their games so far. i certainly couldn't play the lions laying points, but the rams' only road game was a loss at oakland (although they did cover that game). NO PLAY

chicago/carolina - the line swung 5 points when it was announced that cutler was out. since when is losing jay cutler a bad thing? teams have learned that the way to stop the mike martz offense is to go after the qb (duh). there have been times in the first 4 games when the bears' offensive line was like swiss cheese. well, the panthers only have 4 sacks in 4 games. i'm sure that number will increase today, but not enough. and i'm getting points from jimmy clausen? seriously? ok, i'll bite. don't love it, but DA BEARS +2.5.

san diego/oakland - sure, sd is way more talented, and oakland has a lot of injuries. at least their offense has shown some life with gradkowski. and san diego in two road games has lost at seattle and kansas city. OAKLAND +6.

philly/san fran - so philly switches back to a qb who can actually read a defense and throw a touch pass to an open receiver and they're getting points from san fran? here's san fran's schedule so far:

loss at seattle 31-6
come home for a big monday night game and fight their asses off, only to lose 25-22
loss at kc 31-10
another big game, on the road at atlanta. again, they play a good game, only to lose 16-14.
now they are back home, laying 3.5 points? ok, maybe i'm a sucker, but PHILLY +3.5.

dammit, in the time it took me to type that, the bills jumped up to 2.5. insane. something strange is afoot at the circle k. adding a unit on maybe the worst team in football. BUFFALO -2.5.

thanks, morris. you too.

yeah, we went monday night. it was a good time until new england scored two tds in the opening minutes of the 2nd half to kill my under, which was looking great at halftime. :)

i was going to go back today, but i gotta help the GF out with some stuff. probably better off. watching these games today might have made me want to tear my eyeballs out. i look at a card like this and can't believe i'm actually wagering money on it.

i will be heading back within the next 8 days, because i have 6 free wings waiting for me. :toast:

bryan, i'll take that as a compliment. every day i grow more irritated with how crappy the nfl has become. i really made that comment on monday, when i first looked through this card. "how can anyone get excited about a single one of these games?"
