the cbs "experts" have 3 unanimous selections this week. they are 3-16 when they all agree on a play. the 3 are new england, tennessee, and the ny giants. I love the texans and redskins. I'm going to have a hard time playing the colts, but I gotta do it.
indy (-4) 1 unit. it makes it a little easier to play the colts knowing that richardson has been benched.
kc (+6.5) 2 units. i'll use the same work I did last week to get me san diego and new england - looking at the 3 times over the last 4 seasons that 2 teams played regular season games against each other with only one game in between. oddly enough, all 3 were last year. again, it's a very small sample size, but the 3 teams that lost the first matchup won the rematch as an underdog. chicago beat minnesota by 18 and two weeks later the Vikings beat the bears as a 1-point dog. Houston beat indy by 12 and two weeks later indy beat Houston by 12 as a 6.5 point dog. pitt lost to Baltimore by 3, then two weeks later they beat the ravens by 3 as 6.5 point dogs. odd that two of them were 6.5 point dogs, just like the chiefs are today.
Jacksonville (ML) 2 units to win 5.2. similar to my Jacksonville ML play last week - if the jags are in this game late, there will be a lot of pressure on the home team. plus, brandon weedon is starting.
Miami (+2) 2 units. in the last 4 games, geno smith has thrown 7 INTs and no TDs. Miami is 6th in the league with 14 picks. sure, jets fans are well known for being patient, but I'd say there's a little extra pressure on smith this week.
Houston (+7) 3 units. unlike last week against the jags, I'd say there is no pressure on the texans this week. they are expected to get crushed by the mighty patriots. if Houston has ANY pride left, they will get revenge against the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. i'll probably throw a little on the ML, too.
sd (+1.5) 1 unit. hard to trust the chargers, but the bengals are 2-4 on the road, they are coming off a huge come-from-behind revenge win over the browns, and their next two games are against indy and pitt. they might just be in san diego to enjoy the weather.
Washington (-1) 3 units. as much as I hate betting against qbs making their first start, I LOVE playing against centers making their first start. with reynolds on IR, stephen goodin, a rookie from nebraska-kearney starts for the giants today. he played left guard and left tackle for the lopers, but he was an All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference 1st-team pick. so there's that. the giants' season goes from bad to worse tonight on national tv.
