Big surprise... i'm on dogs and unders.

denver (ML) 3 units to win 4.2. boils down to a few factors for me. The Patriots have not been playing great lately. If not for the fumble by the Chiefs last week that game may have turned out entirely differently. Now they have to go on the road against possibly the best defense in the league. I'm counting on that defense to be able to do what the Chiefs with an injured Houston could not do - pressure Brady without blitzing. That has always been the key to beating Brady - knock him down a couple times early and he looks like a 9-year old who just had his lunch money stolen. He'll pout and call the ref "mommy." "Did you see what that mean man did to me, mommy? He pushed me down and said you and daddy are getting a divorce."
ok, i may be getting a little off track.
Having already seen this offense this season will be an advantage for the broncos. As will not having to worry about any running game. Belichick ain't stupid - i gotta believe he knows he has to generate at least the THREAT of a run game. I just don't think he can do it with his current personnel.
Also it's going to be near 50 degrees at game time. That should be much appreciated by 57 year old quarterback who has had a neck injury.

under (44.5) 3 units. I've already mentioned why I expect Denver's defense to play well today. On the other side of the ball, it's hard to see Denver putting up a lot of points either. Obviously Manning is not throwing downfield much these days. They will look to control the clock and grind out long drives with the running game. And last week we saw just how much trouble they have finishing drives as they settled for, what, 6 field goals? And that was against a porous Pittsburgh defense.

Let's call the final... denver 19-13.

Arizona (ML) 2 units to win 2.8. much tougher game to call, i think. Who the hell knows if last week's win, which was strongly in spite of Palmer, was enough to give him some confidence, or if he will just continue to choke in big situations? but overall, i just think the cards are the better team. and they will be helped, however subtly, by the fairly late start time. It may feel too obvious after the 2nd half turned in by the panthers last week, but the cards may be a good play in the 2nd half as well.

under (47) 2 units. IF palmer actually plays like he did during most of the season, i could be way off here. He might expose the panthers' secondary. But i think a slugfest is more likely. Let's call another final score... arizona 20 - 10.

GL, players! Especially those on the dogs and unders!

Thank you for mentioning that first half play, sir. Nice to have a winner in the bank to start the day.

Obviously it's early, but so far it looks like playoff football is just not carson palmer's thing.

And after seeing that display of ineptitude, not a chance in hell i'm putting another penny on the cards in the second half. If the cards are serious about contending in the future, they need to make a permanent change at qb.

Turned out nice on the Denver end but Ariz was awful...Seems Carolina a LOT better than i thought...Newton i'm afraid is the Future...What a beast...

yeah, i was somewhat shocked that new england didn't get the 2-point conversion. i completely expected to lose the ML and total in OT.

honestly, i am simply not sold on carolina. obviously seattle hadn't recovered from the game in minnesota and was not ready to start that game. and arizona? that blowout was the result of 2 things... carson palmer sucks when the pressure's on and peterson fumbling that punt when the cards were about to get the ball back with very good field position and some momentum. who knows what would have happened, but the cards would have only needed about 20 yards to get into fg position. and that was right after they had a 6-minute, 10-play, 79-yard td drive and carolina went 3-and-out. have to believe arizona wouldn't have gotten at least 3 on that drive to make it a 7-point game.

the panthers have really faced absolutely zero game pressure in the playoffs. hell, they haven't faced much all year. i just took a really quick look, and i only saw one close game against a playoff team (the win at seattle, and that turned out to be a lot less impressive than it looked at the time.).

maybe they'll blow out denver, too. but i think it will be a close game and we'll find out what the panthers are really made of.

I agree pretty much with all the things you covered here but for some reason this team seems to have the IT attitude....Should be a very competitive game but i just can't get Kubiac of of my mind for doing something stupid...I think Bum is mainly the reason this team is here...Some job he has done with this defense...Great play calling from him...That being said gonna look hard at the total here ...I already have under 53 in a Super Bowl prop a month ago....Let's find the winner....:0074

fair point on kubiak, but i don't know if he will be outcoached by riverboat ron.

and wade phillips has always been a solid dc. just a terrible head coach. he must have read my write-up at the beginning of this post. pressure brady without blitzing, and you're in good shape.

under 53? love it. although i feel like i always get burned with the under in championship games. so while i really like under 45, that will probably be a small play for me. maybe that extra 8 points will be enough.

i will definitely be on denver. only question is how big. i saw an interesting stat today.... someone was looking at carolina's dominant start to their 2 playoff games. not surprisingly, no team has ever dominated the first quarter of each playoff game like the panthers this year. but the next 6 teams that got off to the best start in each of their playoff games all lost the super bowl.

only 11 days to go...

This Panther offense is Roaring...Eight of the last nine games they have scored 30+...To me that is extremely impressive...So why am i leaning Denver also? My thinking is Phillips will have to do two things and must do them well...Take Olsen away and pressure Cam...If he can do this my word Denver will win....I see this game like a 24-17 20-17 kind of game only because this Denver defense is really good....
