ViewFromVegas of Super Bowl 51 (at midnight ET):

After early betting, the New England Patriots are 3-point favorites over the Atlanta at all 13 sports-book operators in Las Vegas, with Boyd Gaming shading the line the most at NE -3 (-120). The over/under has been bet up to 59 points at the majority of books after opening at 58 at most books (MGM and Jerry's Nugget have both gone to 59.5).

--------------

FWIW, Matt Ryan is 0-2 vs NE in his career, none in post-season of course, all before HC Quinn joined the team.

I'll post more info as I find it. LOL!!

I thought the Pats out scored the Seahawks in 2014 468 to 394. Just asking?

They did but Bill's trend is that the team with the highest scoring offense for the season is 0-7 in the SB. At least that's how I read it.

Which is exactly my point. In the regular season the Pats out scored the Seahawks and won the Super Bowl

It's not based on the team that scored more than the other, it's a team that led the league in scoring has never won the SB that year. :0008

2014, Green Bay had the highest scoring offense for the regular season, they didn't go to the Super Bowl that year but they made the post-season. It's not a head to head who scored most, it's the team that led the NFL in Scoring offense.

LY was Carolina and we know what happened to them. Just ask Cam Newton!!

The last seven teams with the highest scoring offense has lost in the Super Bowl seven straight times.

For those I cornfuzzled "Last 7 teams who led the NFL in scoring during the regular season, have lost in the Super Bowl 7 straight times!"

I'm sure Scrappy has some legit info as well!!!

And yes, I've had my caffeine today!!

Strength of schedule:

Teams favored and had the higher/better Sagarin rating and strength of schedule ranking have won 7 straight Super Bowls.

Common opponents for both teams: Lambs, Broncos, Seattle (both lost to Seattle, Atlanta won at home in 2nd week of playoffs 36-20) and San Fwan-seesko.

Strength of schedule edge: Atlanta

New England away, 23 ppg scored, 21 ppg allowed

Atlanta away, 32 ppg scored, 23 ppg allowed

Average QBR strength edge to Atlanta.

ViewFromVegas of Super Bowl LI (as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday):

The New England Patriots are still 3-point favorites over the Atlanta Falcons at all 13 sports-book operators in Las Vegas, but the average vig (which is usually -110 on both sides) has increased to -115 with more support continuing to come in on the Patriots. The Westgate, William Hill, Treasure Island and Stations books have gone to New England -3 (-120). The over/under is still 59 at the majority of books though Boyd Gaming and Stations have gone to 59.5 with Jerry's Nugget already at 60.

all teams "play who the league puts on their schedule", so pats fans can stop lobbying that one around. surely the pats have a stouter defense - both statistically, and imo, by the eye test. they play sounder, more disciplined football, -in all phases- without a doubt. but the stats too, say that ATL has had by far tougher offensive squads to match up against, that could lead to the skewing of rankings being what they are.

that said, i'd actually venture my opinion that while the pats do have edges in a handful of SB trends... including, -as im told-, being the squad that wears white jersey - as 10 of last 11 teams to do so, have won, (--the last white jerseyed team to lose, --pats v giants) i believe that the it will be the falcons, NOT the patriots who have better chance to win by double digits, though truly like the falcons by a TD at minimum
