over the course of this wk I've been playing parlays and leaving a spot open... I've got 5 left to use, which I will here in this thread.
FIRST.... a few points to make.
1) PATRIOTS ~~ We may never see another stretch like the Pats have put together these last 18 yrs... 9 SB appearances is amazing... and is a combination of factors (like everything in life):
**Belichik: along w/game planning, defense, his ability to reload his tm after losing free agents (esp in offensive and defensive lines/lb's) is best ever... they ALWAYS protect Brady over the course of the season.
*Brady: fiery competitor, most successful of all time, definitely blessed to be paired w/Belichik... don't think he'd have gone to any SB's playing for the Bills or Jets lol... but definitely one of the most accurate passers in the clutch!
*Edelman: another amazing competitor, fantastic hands, durable, clutch performer! pretty much got them the win v Falcons a few yrs ago...
*Pats ability to reload and stay under the salary cap and only pay a few guys the big $$ is amazing
*They play in the absolute worst division to help get home field advantage almost every GD year!
*Their defense can be shredded... KC did in 4th qtr... Eagles did last Super Bowl... Rams can too
2) RAMS ~~ We may be in year 2 of the next "Greatest Coach of All-time!" development!
**McVay: his offensive play development, the precision he drills into their plays... youthful fire, saying the right things to keep his team focused... I like their chances
*Goff ~ 2 yrs ago, he was trying to claim the title "all-time worst #1 pick"... I think that discussion is over.
his game v Saints (arguably the MOST difficult place to win a 'road' playoff gm) coming thru with some BIG completions to bring his team back in the MOST hostile environment, the noise, etc was fantastic.
*Gurley, Anderson, Woods, Cooks, No-namers Higbee and Everett and Reynolds... ALL have had their moments of glory this season... and it ONLY comes because of the quality offensive line play.
**Aaron Donald.... the rams Def line and LB play vs the Saints was incredible, and take away 2 stupid plays by their DB's and was a dominant performance against the Saints (and Cowboys)
I expect some Belichik surprises today, and I expect the Rams to adjust (UNLIKE the Chargers and Chiefs in 1st halfs)
3) My family moved from Chicago area to So Calif 55 yrs ago...
I listened to the Rams (Dick Enberg) on the radio... Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen and rest of the Fearsome Foursome, Dick Bass, Les Josephson, Roman Gabriel, Jack Snow up thru Jack Youngblood, Fred Dryer, Nolan Cromwell et al...
So they were my first football team I rooted for.
That said...
I think Rams are the better team this yr... and have been most all the year...
I think McVay will have a great game plan (as will Belichik)....
I'm worried about Pats ability to throw against suspect Rams DB...
I believe the Rams Def will be able to handle Pats running gm (as they did the Saints and Cowboys)...
MY Gut feeling is the Rams are a better team, and have been all season. They are NOT a cold weather team (as Bears showed) but other than that lol...
After a couple good wks, I got my butt kicked in cbk yday or I'd be loading up on the Rams..
